The problem of plastic yielding at the head of single column head and soil in the its surroundings is a subject of the present study. A simple formula for calculating the single column bearing capacity is given on the basis of perturbation method. The bearing capacities of columns calculated in this way for properly determined strength parameters of column material and soil are close to the values obtained in field tests. The proposed method of determining the load of columns can be used to design the reinforcement of a weak subsoil by means of columns made from sand, gravel and stone.

Rozpatrywano zagadnienie uplastycznienia głowicy pojedynczej kolumny I podłoża w jej otoczeniu. Rozwiązując zagadnienie metodą perturbacji, podano prosty wzór nośności granicznej pojedynczej kolumny. Dla prawidłowo określonych parametrów wytrzymałościowych kolumny i podłoża obliczone w ten sposób nośności graniczne kolumn są bliskie wartościom otrzymanym w badaniach polowych. Proponowana metoda określania nośności kolumn może być stosowana w projektowaniu wzmocnień słabego podłoża za pomocą kolumn wykonywanych z piasku, żwiru i tłuczenia.
