The paper describes aspects related to the reliability and its influence on life cycle cost analysis performance. The emphasis is on the unreliability costs, caused by failures, which are incurred over an entire object’s useful life. Later, there are characterized three methods, i.e. exponentially distributed failure rate, the determined failures frequency, and Weibull distributed failure rate, which allow to quantify the economic impact of the costs associated with reliability in the Life Cycle Cost Analysis. Applications of these approach to predict the unreliability costs of railbus electrical system are presented as well.

Przedstawiono wyniki analizy kosztów strat u dystrybutorów energii spowodowanych awariami urządzeń eksploatowanych w stacjach transformatorowo-rozdzielczych SN/nn. Analizie poddano składniki kosztów awarii. Podano ich charakterystyki oraz przeprowadzono dokładne obliczenia statystyczne. Wyznaczono ich wartości średnie, odchylenia standardowe oraz przedziały ufności dla średniej. Dokonano także weryfikacji nieparametrycznej. Analizy przeprowadzono rozłącznie dla stacji eksploatowanych w sieciach miejskich oraz wiejskich.

Presented are results of cost analysis of the losses incurred by electric energy distributors as a result of MV/LV substations equipment damages. Analysed are the failure component costs, given are their characteristics and detailed statistical calculations. Determined are their average values, standard deviations and confidence intervals for the average. The nonparametric verification has also been made. All the analyses have been carried out separately for stations operated in urban and rural networks.
