Torque ripple reduction in BLDC motor based ona PWM technique for open-end winding

The article presents a modulation method for BLDC motors with unconnected windings. This method uses two full bridges (or three 12-switch H-bridges). The useof the described modulation enables reducing the motor current variable and increasing (fourfold in relation to the switching frequency) the motor current ripple frequency. Themost important benefit of using a 12-switch inverter is the twofold reduction of the dc-linkvoltage while maintaining the rated rpm (voltage reduction in comparison to a typical supplymethod). A voltage reduction causes a reduction in losses on semi-conductor elements. Thearticle also demonstrates that the proposed modulation technique significantly shortens thetime of current commutation between windings.

W artykule opisano modulację unipolarną dla silnika BLDC o nieskojarzanych uzwojeniach. Opisane rozwiązanie ma wiele zalet w porównaniu do klasycznych modulacji takich jak: możliwość uzkania większej prędkości obrotowej przy tym samy napięciu zasilania oraz większą częstotliwość składowej zmiennej prądu.

The article describes PWM technique for an open-end winding BLDC motor. The described solution has a number of advantages over the conventional method like: the highest maximum speed possible with the same capacitor voltage, the highest current ac component frequency etc.

W artykule opisano zmodyfikowaną modulację unipolarną, która pozwala na łatwe przejście z pracy silnikowej od generatorowej. Metoda to bazuje na dodatkowych impulsach sterujących tranzystorami (jest to rozszerzenie typowej dla silnika BLDC unipolarnej modulacji z impulsującym jednym tranzystorem). Przedstawiony został również układ regulacji silnika BLDC, w którym wprowadzono ideę prostownika logicznego.

The article describes modified method of unipolar modulation. The method allows for an easy transition from motoring to generating. It is based on additional transistor-controlling impulses (this is an extension of unipolar modulation with one impulsing transistor typical of a BLDC motor). It also demonstrates a regulation system for a BLDC motor, which implements the concept of a logic rectifier.
