The paper deals with self-synchronisation of rotated unbalanced masses of two rotors in the mechanical rectilinear-swing exciter. The utilization of the exciter is explained at first. So far unpublished theoretical explanation of the phenomena follows. A solution stated here has resulted in the Mathieu equation, which is describing this phenomenon and characterising stable and unstable states (e.g. depends on mechanical-physical parameters of both elements and the whole system). Mechanical friction, other resistances and loses were not taken in account. On the other hand, the resistances could rather contribute towards broadening stable areas of the phase synchronisation. Asynchronous-three-phase-electro-motors-with-short-circuit-armature have been used for propulsion (as usual). Only certain part of the motors characteristics had been used for the solution ( from maximal torque to maximal rotations) and this part of the electro-motor characteristics has been linearized. The self- synchronisation phenomenon is independent of various torque-rotation curves with one exception-when torque magnitude is constant (this resulting from exact solution for K = O). In conclusion of this paper are described experiments on the test stand together with consequences above-mentioned phenomena for practical applications.
