Education for Sustainable Development is one of the most important areas of education both in Poland and all over the world. It is not only related to the development of pro-environmental attitudes towards nature, but also to shaping the competences of the future, needed for satisfying functioning in daily life with other people. Social competence deserves attention in this respect and is worth developing in young people from the earliest age - in kindergarten and school. In the contemporary world, where soft competences become important (including the ability to cooperate, work in a team, build healthy relationships or solve various types of problems), shaping and strengthening these competences are key tasks for contemporary teachers. This article points to some interview research results that show both possibilities of using activating methods for teachers in their everyday work with children and youth (so as to prepare them for later life stages) and limitations of using them from the teachers’ point of view.

This paper reports on an ongoing project between members of the computer science and special education departments of Bradley University and Murray State University, detailing the robotic platforms developed and investigated as a potential tool to improve social interactions among individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Development of a fourth generation robotic agent is described, which uses economically available robotic platforms (Lego NXT) as Socially Assistive Robotics (SAR), combined with direct instruction pedagogy and social scripts to support an alternative educational approach to teaching social behavior. Specifically, in this fourth generation, changes to the physical design of the robots were made to improve the maintainability, reliability, maneuverability, and aesthetics of the robots. The software architecture was designed for modularity, configurability, and reusability of the software.

W niniejszym artykule podjęto problematykę dotyczącą roli szkoleń w zakresie rozwoju i doskonalenia kompetencji społecznych pracowników, osób bezrobotnych, zagrożonych bezrobociem i wykluczeniem społecznym. Przedstawiono trening umiejętności społecznych jako formę podnoszenia kompetencji społecznych w aspekcie behawioralnym. Omówiono modelową strukturę pojedynczej sesji treningu, metody i techniki specyficzne dla treningu umiejętności społecznych oraz czynniki warunkujące jego skuteczność.

This article considers the problem of training which are developing and improving competences for social workers, people who are unemployed, threatened by unemployment and social exclusion. It presents social skills training as a form of raising this skills in behavioral term. It shows a model structure of single training session, methods and techniques which are specific for social skills training and factors conditioning its effectiveness.

A specific character of leadership can be considered in three main aspects: influence on people, on a group which he is the leader of and tasks he wants to achieve. Leadership is a process of the leader’s influence upon other members of a specific group in a way which motives them positively to engage their abilities, knowledge and experience to achieve the goals of organisation, the analysis of the leadership concept allows to draw a conclusion that the effectiveness of leadership depends on numerous intermingled factors and abilities how to deal with people, to influence them, to balance activities oriented on people and on tasks, to apply flexibly various styles of leadership depending on a situation, to evaluate and motivate subordinates and to delegate competencies and responsibilities. Generally speaking, the art of dealing with people consists in mastering the following abilities: analysing the situation, setting the present or future goal which is possible to achieve, choosing appropriate behaviours - first of all, lingual ones - shaping other people’s behaviours, current checking own and interaction partners’ behaviour. Conscious creating one’s own image and getting the appreciation of the environment is a very important ability of a contemporary leader in any group.
