Content available remote Comfort-Related Properties of Double-Layered Woven Car Seat Fabrics

Seat upholstery fabrics for vehicles are crucial products as technical textiles in motor vehicles make up approximately 15% of the total manufactured technical textiles worldwide and more than 50% of the production belongs to the woven fabrics because of their appropriate properties for this application. The current work presents the comfort-related properties of the woven fabrics designed to be used in automotive seat upholstery. For this aim, double-layered woven fabrics were produced with four different process variables such as bottom layer pattern, number of interlacing warps in a unit report, number of interlacing picks per top warp, and number of weft skips by using Taguchi experimental design. Besides handle related properties, such as circular bending rigidity, surface roughness properties, and thermo physiological comfort related properties that include air permeability, thermal resistance, and moisture management properties were measured and analyzed based on Taguchi experimental analysis.

Artykuł omawia techniki łączenia elementów układu uziomowego w aspekcie wymagań norm krajowych dla najczęściej stosowanych metod. Analizie poddano wytyczne w zakresie długości i jakości spoin przy spawaniu łukowym. Połączenia skręcane omówiono na przykładzie uchwytów krzyżowych. Przedstawiono właściwości techniki zgrzewania egzotermicznego. Rodzaje połączeń porównano pod kątem odporności na korozję, wytrzymałości mechanicznej i potrzeby dodatkowych zabezpieczeń antykorozyjnych.

The paper describes the techniques of connecting of the earthing system components in relation to the requirements of national standards for the most commonly used methods. The guidelines for the length and quality of joints in conventional arc welding method were analyzed. The screwed connections are discussed on the example of cruciform clamps. Properties of the exothermic welding technique are presented. The types of connections were compared in relation to corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and the need of additional corrosion protection measures.

In the article the experimental research of the flexible fixture is shown, which provides sufficient accessibility and allows to perform multiaxis machining of parts, e.g. of levers with one setup. The experimental studies compared with the results of numerical simulation that were previously obtained, confirmed that the proposed fixture design meets all accuracy parameters. The results of experimental studies on the determination of displacements have shown that the values of displacements, determined statically, in the proposed fixtures are smaller than the dedicated ones. The analysis of the data of determination of the frequencies of the proper oscillations in the machining of the levers from steel and cast iron has confirmed that the first critical frequency of the fixture significantly exceeds the similar parameter of dedicated fixture.

Single-layered warp knitted fabrics were produced by the 60D/36F (containing 36 filaments) polyester yarn with differential shrinkage (DS) property in this study. Due to the differential shrinkage property, the fabric becomes curly and bulkier, simulating cotton fabric in terms of its appearance and fabric handle. The performance and appearance of these DS polyester warp knitted fabrics were evaluated objectively and subjectively. The testing results demonstrated that the DS polyester warp knitted fabric had better abrasion property, worse pilling resistance due to the mechanical property of polyester yarn when compared with 100% cotton warp knitted fabric. Meanwhile, lower water vapour permeability and air resistance were found for DS polyester warp knitted fabric resulting from the dense structure of yarn shrinkage after heat-moisture treatment. Besides, the fabric handle was evaluated by Kawabata evaluation system and subject to trial under dry and wet fabric condition. DS polyester warp knitted fabrics provide better recovery under low stress mechanical pressure. The subjective evaluation result shows that the warp knitted fabrics made of DS polyester had similar handle against cotton warp knitted fabric in terms of prickle, smooth, comfort and dry feeling in both dry and wet testing conditions.

Purpose: This study was aimed to investigate the function of toes while running through comparing bound toes by external-manipulation with natural separate toes by evaluating kinematics and plantar pressure analysis. Methods: Seven habitually barefoot male runners participated in the running test under toes binding and non-binding conditions, and Vicon and Novel insole plantar pressure measurement were conducted synchronously to collect kinematics and foot loading. Results: Ankle kinematics showed larger non-significant range of motion in the frontal plane while running with toes non-binding.The medial forefoot had a smaller force time integral, and with hallux had a larger force time integral than those of running with toes binding, with significance level p < 0.05. Conclusions: While no significance existed between bound and non-bound toes in kinematics, the medial forefoot had a smaller foot impulse and the hallux had a larger foot impulse for those with non-binding feet. This suggests that other functions such as the active gripping action of toes might be important for the efficiency of the foot windlass mechanism (the plantar fascia support), which would be beneficial for running performance improvement and foot injury prevention.

The design and shape of hand tool handles are critical factors for preventing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) caused by the use of hand tools. We explored how these factors are related to total force and individual finger force in males and females with various hand anthropometrics. Using the MFFM system, we assessed four indices of anthropometry, and measured total force and individual finger force on various handle designs and shapes. Both total force and individual finger force were significant according to gender and handle shape. Total grip strength to the handle shape indicated the greatest strength with D shape and the least with A shape. From the regression analysis of hand anthropometric indices, the value of R was respectably high at 0.608–0.696. The current study examined the gender and handle shape factors affecting grip strength based on the force measurements from various handle types, in terms of influence on different hand anthropometric indices.

The properties of wool fabrics desired can only be achieved if appropriate finishing processes are carried out. Decatising is a part of wool finishing processes increasing the fabric surface properties of fabrics. In this study, high pressure decatising process was applied to semi-decatised woven wool fabrics. Surface properties (coefficient of friction, mean deviation in the frictional force, geometric roughness) of the fabrics were measured by KESFB4, and the friction coefficient of the fabrics by means of a Frictorq test machine before and after application of the high pressure decatising process. The effect of high pressure decatising on the fabric surface properties of wool and wool blend fabrics was analysed. It was concluded that high pressure decatising process had a healing effect on the fabric surface properties, and also the coefficient of friction and surface roughness values decreased.

Pożądane właściwości tkanin wełnianych mogą być osiągnięte tylko przy zastosowaniu odpowiednich procesów wykańczających. Dekatyzacja jest jednym z procesów wykańczających tkaniny wełniane polepszającym właściwości powierzchniowe. W przedstawionej pracy stosowano dekatyzację wysokociśnieniową jako uzupełnienie wstępnej dekatyzacji. Badano właściwości powierzchniowe (współczynnik tarcia, średni rozrzut sił tarcia i szorstkość powierzchni) za pomocą przyrządu KES-FB4 oraz współczynnik tarcia za pomocą przyrządu Frictorq przed i po zastosowaniu wysokociśnieniowej dekatyzacji. Analizowano wpływ wysokociśnieniowej dekatyzacji na właściwości powierzchniowe przędz wełnianych i mieszankowych. Stwierdzono, że dekatyzacja miała korzystny wpływ na właściwości powierzchniowe i stwierdzono zmniejszenie współczynnika tarcia.

W pracy przedstawiona została nowa konstrukcja amortyzowanego uchwytu sprężyny śrubowej. Konstrukcja ta ma wiele zalet w stosunku do istniejących rozwiązań. Przeprowadzone w pracy symulacje MES wykazały, że w porównaniu z konwencjonalnym uchwytem mocującym, konstrukcja ta zapewnia niski poziom naprężeń maksymalnych zarówno w sprężynie, jak i w samym uchwycie. Wykazano również, że amortyzująca część uchwytu może być wykonana z materiału elstomerowego o właściwościach wytrzymałościowych zbliżonych do typowych gum stosowanych w przemyśle. Przedstawiono możliwości aplikacyjne omawianego rozwiązania konstrukcyjnego.

New design of amortized grip of the helical spring was presented. Presented design as many advantages over existing solutions. FEM simulations showed that, compared with a conventional clamping device, this design provides a Iow level of maximum stress, in both the spring and in the grip. It was also demonstrated that the amortized part of the grip could be made of elastomer material with strength properties similar to those observed for rubbers commonly used in the industry. There were presented possibilities of application of this design solution.

Content available remote Comfort and handle behaviour of linen-blended fabrics

Few can dispute the tremendous values of linen, which is one of nature's greatest treasures. Linen is a longer-staple category, and as such the fibre is spun on a long-fibre spinning system. Due to the coarseness and stiffness of the fibre, linen fabrics are subjected to a strong bleaching action to reduce the stiffness of the fabric. Linen is also blended with other compatible natural and manmade fibres to achieve various structural and functional properties, and also to reduce costs. Fabrics produced from 100% linen and their blends with cotton and viscose have been studied for handle and comfort properties. Linen fabrics produce excellent aesthetic and drape properties. Linen fabrics are found to be tougher than cotton and other blends. However, linen offers the highest tensile resilience and the lowest friction coefficient under low stress-loading conditions. Linen fabric produces superior primary hand with respect to Fukurami and Shari. The total hand value (THV) of processed linen fabric is higher than that of cotton fabric as a summer wear. The blending of viscose and cotton improves the hand value of linen fabric.

W artykule zaprezentowano zastosowanie programu mesowskiego Robot Millennium do analizy konstrukcji korpusu uchwytu obróbkowego pod kątem odkształceń wywołanych siłami skrawania. Podano warunki dyskretyzacji opracowanego modelu obliczeniowego za pomocą elementów skończonych i charakterystyki fizyczne. Zdefiniowano podpory i warunki brzegowe, obciążenie działające na model. Przedstawiono analizę obliczeniową modelu, odkształcenia wywołane siłami skrawania, naprężenia główne oraz wnioski.

Article presents use of finite element method computer program "Robot Millennium" for analysis of construction of chuck chassis from the point of view of cutting forces deformations. The conditions of discretisation of presented finite element model are given as well as physical characteristics. Edge conditions are defined together with forces acting on model. Calculation analyses of the model, cutting force chuck deformations and main stresses as well as conclusions have been also presented.
