Potassium tetra- and hexa-titanate whiskers were synthesized from anatase and K2CO3 starting materials by calcination and means of slow-cooling method. X-ray analysis was used to investigate the formation of the above mentioned titanates. In a slow-cooling calcination process, the control of cooling rate was crucial to the growth of whiskers. The amount of K2CO3 in the starting powder mixture played a key role in the formation of K2Ti6O13 whiskers. The characterization of the whiskers was carried out by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM).
