The influence of a high voltage electrode design on electrical parameters of the ozone generator

The application of high-voltage electrode of an altered design to cylindrical ozonizer creates new potential for obtaining higher efficiency of an ozone formation process. It has been found that the new design of an inner high-voltage electrode brings a change to the discharge character and influences the rate of an ozone synthesis process. The shape of Lissajou's curves obtained, indicates the mixed character of the discharges in an ozonizer with a new design at helix electrodes. This type of electrodes had a various number of windings per unit length and per diameters. Experiments have been performed within the range of voltage values of 4.0 - 8.5 kV, (50 Hz and 150 Hz), the discharge gap was 2 mm or 4.5 mm and within the range of inlet gas flow of 30 - 100 dcmYh. It have been shown that application of a high-voltage electrode with a mean number of windings per unit length and oxygen as inlet gas yields the highest ozone concentration at the same value of specific energy.
