Study of the vehicle dynamics requires knowledge of the values and directions of the forces acting on the wheel. The resultant force resulting from acting of longitudinal and lateral forces on the wheel should be less than the friction force of the wheel. In this paper the method of determining of vehicle dynamics is presented. Name of the method comes from the shape of the obtained characteristic, which shape is similar to a square. This method allows to determine the maximum longitudinal and lateral forces through the front and rear wheels of the vehicle that are possible to transfer. There are assumed in advance the values of the longitudinal forces on the wheels, and then it is checked whether they can be realized and whether the existing friction force enables to transfer the lateral force. To illustrate the method the characteristic was performed for the reference automobile applying this method.

Rozpatrywanie dynamiki pojazdu wymaga znajomości wartości i kierunków sił działających na koła. Siła wypadkowa wynikająca z działania sił wzdłużnych i poprzecznych na koło powinna być mniejsza niż siła przyczepności danego koła. W artykule przedstawiono sposób analizy dynamiki pojazdu „Dynamic Square Method” (DSM). Nazwa metody pochodzi od kształtu otrzymywanej charakterystyki, która przypomina kwadrat. Metoda ta pozwala na wyznaczenie maksymalnych możliwych do przeniesienia sił wzdłużnych i poprzecznych przez koła przednie i tylne pojazdu. Zakłada się przy tym z góry wartości sił wzdłużnych na kołach, a następnie sprawdza się, czy będą mogły być one zrealizowane i czy istnieje zapas siły przyczepności umożliwiający rozwinięcie siły poprzecznej. Do zobrazowania metody sporządzono przy jej użyciu charakterystykę dla samochodu wzorcowego.
