Nowadays design of machine-tool telescopic covers is usually based on empiric knowledge only. A complex model of cover dimensions, statics and dynamics presented in this paper will make the design process faster and more accurate. Results of this model can be used for correction of axes drive control. Polyurethane sealing wiper is one of crucial parts of telescopic covers that protect axes of machine tools. Wiper must be preloaded by cover plate to work properly. This preload and a friction resistance of wiper however strain all parts of cover and drive. Data obtained by measurement of wiper resistance presented in this paper are essential part of component properties library used as an input of submodel predicting wiper behaviour. This submodel represents a fraction of the whole complex model.
