W literaturze dotyczącej użytkowania trawników niewiele jest danych na temat możliwości stosowania hydrożeli do poprawy kondycji muraw trawnikowych. Dlatego też celem pracy jest zbadanie wpływu superabsorbentu Aqua-gel P4 na dynamikę wschodów oraz estetykę trawników. Badaniami objęto cztery dostępne w handlu mieszanki traw, stosowane na różnego rodzaju trawniki. Przez cały okres prowadzonego doświadczenia stosowano umiarkowanie intensywny sposób pielęgnacji trawnika określony przez nazwą RELAX. Zastosowany w użytkowaniu muraw mieszankowych Aqua-gel P4 zarówno po 15 jak i 30 dniach od wysiewu nasion, wykazywał wysoko istotne różnice we wschodach traw, korzystne dla podłoża bez hydrożelu. Natomiast wraz z upływem czasu, następowało sukcesywne wyrównywanie wschodów badanych mieszanek pomiędzy zastosowanymi w badaniach rodzajami podłoża. W latach pełnego użytkowania, dodatek hydrożelu do podłoża przyczyniał się do poprawy wyglądu estetycznego badanych muraw. Zastosowany w podłożu glebowym hydrożel w okresach niedoboru wody w glebie, łagodził niekorzystny wpływ warunków wilgotnościowych, zwłaszcza w okresach występującej posuchy.

In the literature concerning lawns utilization there is a few data on the possibility of hydro gels using to improve the condition of grasslands lawn. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the impact of super absorbent Aqua-gel P4 on the dynamics of emergence and the aesthetics of lawns. The study involved four commercially available mixtures of grasses, used for all kinds of lawns. Throughout the period of experiment the moderately intensive lawn care cultivation, denominated by name RELAX was carried out. Applied in the cultivation of lawn mixtures, the Aqua-gel P4 both, after 15 and 30 days after sowing, showed highly significant differences in the emergence of grasses without the benefit of hydro gel. However, with coming time, successive equalization of emergence followed between the effects of applied subsoil types. In the years of full cultivation, the addition of hydro gel to the substrate contributed to improving the aesthetic appearance of studied turf grasses. Hydro gel used in the subsoil during the periods of water deficit in the soil attenuated the unfavorable impact of humidity conditions, especially during the periods of drought occurring.

The paper contains some rules which should be taken under consideration at turf management. The proposition of classification of turf according to the intensity of maintenance (type of turf) and goal of management (kind of turf) were done. It was presented parameters of teclnology which can be a ”key” for specialisation of turf. The system of turf quality evaluation was proposed. Festuca spp cultivars turf performance (general aspect) under shade park conditions was showed as a example of using the system. It was concluded that the extensive turf is rather easy to managing but the intensive one is difficult in many maintenance details. The intensive type of turf can be cause by many abiotic and biotic stresses.

The determination of the turf grasses seeded in Grass-Paver grate growth and development was the aim of the study. The grate construction is based on the rule of honeycomb. The three grass mixtures (1 Dutch and 2 Polish) and three substratums different in percentage of sand (90, 60, and 40) were analysed in this study. The study has proved that construction margins have not deleriorated the conditions of growth and the development of grasses. The grasses on the entire surface emerged, grew and rooted well. After 4 weeks they covered 80% of the area and after 6 weeks the concise caipet with unseen construction elements was obtained. The kind o f applied mixture than substratum had influenced on the speed o f sodding in bigger grade. Polish mixture with sinaller share of perennial ryegrass (M3) characterised slower turfing what may get worse visual effect in first 6 weeks after seeding. In further period of vegetation all established turfings has presented very well. Underground biomass am ounted in general biomass in seeding year front 59% to 80% and in the following 85-92%. On substratum with highest share of sand smaller share of roots occurred. After applying mixtures with similar species composition but different varieties origin the significant differences in gratitude of biomes were stated. In foreign mixture in the first year of study both roots mass and above ground mass were significantly bigger than in second year of study. In different way reacted on kind of substratum, especially in second year of the study. The root mass has increased in Polish varieties and decreased in foreign ones with decreasing of sand share in substratum.
