The article presents a simulation method for determining the minimum safe pull of tugs assisting in port manoeuvres. The method can be used to determine the relationship between the minimum safe pull, understood as the tension on the line, of the assisting tugs and the overall length, cargo capacity or net capacity of ships manoeuvring in a given port under allowable hydrometeorological conditions. The method was verified through simulated tests of gas tankers’ entry, turning and berthing at the LNG terminal of Świnoujście.

W artykule przedstawiono techniki symulacji asysty holowniczej transportowych jednostek pływających (statków) oraz metodę kwantyfikacji ryzyka manewrowania statkiem z asystą holowniczą na akwenie ograniczonym. Specyfika wzajemnych interakcji holownik - statek holowany prowadzi do konkluzji wskazującej na konieczność prowadzenia badań symulacyjnych w wielozadaniowych symulatorach nawigacyjno-manewrowych z projekcją perspektywiczną wizji otoczenia na kilku mostkach nawigacyjnych (tzw. FMBS). Ocena ryzyka następuje na podstawie wyznaczenia prawdopodobieństwa wypadku nawigacyjnego i jego skutków dla jednostki holowanej, jak i holującej.

The paper presents simulation techniques of tugs assistance and method of manoeuvring risk quantification of the vessel with tugs assistance in the restricted waters. The specificity of interaction between the tug and the towed vessel leads to the conclusion of necessary simulation research in Full Mission Bridge Simulators (FMBS). The risk assessment is based on the likelihood of a navigation accident and its consequences both for the vessel being towed and the towing vessel.
