W obiektach mostowych istotne są nie tylko parametry techniczne, ale także estetyka, w tym kolor obiektu. Projektanci i wykonawcy muszą zwracać uwagę nie tylko na to, jak wygląda on teraz, ale jak będzie się zmieniał w czasie. W artykule omówiono problematykę stabilności różnych barw w zależności od czasu i działania warunków atmosferycznych.

Colour is one of the most crucial characteristics influencing the aesthetics of a structure. Designers often do not pay attention to the conditions in which the structure will be exposed and how they will effect the stability of the gloss and colour of coatings. The durability of colour and gloss depends both on the used binder and pigment, and this is surely connected with the price of the material. Therefore technical durability requirements for these two parameters should be specified. The article discusses how to define these requirements, what is possible for which kinds of paint, which colours are durable and which are the most susceptible to change. The examples of the appropriate and inappropriate applications of colour coatings on bridge structures are also presented.
