Thermostability of the raw TMP containing dissolved sodium formate, after its salt exchange by H2SO4 was investigated. It was found, that depending on the amount of H2SO4 used, the raw TMP behaves in a different way within the temperature range of 160 - 210°C: - it fully distils under vacuum, - or its ester impurities decompose, and then pure TMP distils off, - or its ester impurities decompose, and then TMP decomposition with the evolution of ethylacrolein odour takes place during distillation.
