The prospects for growth of the intermodal transport in Poland

Intermodal transport has been one of the most supported forms of transport in the programs of EU transport policy and national conceptions of the policy. The effects of this support is still limited. By 2030 it is expected to improve the competitive position of intermodal transport in mature markets with innovation and technological progress and organizational. Intermodal transport market in Poland is a young market, which is characterized by a small, but steady growth. An increase in this type of transport in the overall transport of goods , but the share of intermodal transport performance in freight transport performance in Poland amounts to less than 5 % ( the highest percentage of intermodal freight services characterized by foreign shipowners FTP sea-about 14 %). In this article, the author analyzes the current conditions shaping the intermodal transport market, and defines the areas in which it is necessary to implement changes and innovations that enable the sustainable development of the intermodal market in Poland. The strategic objective of the development of intermodal transport in Poland is to create favorable conditions for the technical, legal, organizational , economic and financial implications for the dynamic development of the intermodal transport system , so that their share of rail transport in 2020 reached the average level of the European Union in 2000, such as 10-15 % in terms of tonnage. (Tomasz Szmid 2012) The condition of the available infrastructure and various instruments, including financial ones, ensuring increased availability of intermodal services are also of decisive importance.

Celem prowadzonych badań jest określenie wpływu harmonijnego funkcjonowania systemów transportowych w dużych aglomeracjach miejskich na zrównoważony rozwój tych obszarów oraz nawiązanie współpracy pomiędzy władzami samorządowymi, instytucjami naukowo-badawczymi oraz instytucjami otoczenia biznesu, w celu aktywizacji obszarów miejskich i wzrostu ich konkurencyjności, przy poprawie mobilności społeczeństw, w kontekście dokumentów i zaleceń polityki transportowej UE. W artykule poruszono problemy związane z metodologią racjonalnego zarządzania projektami badawczymi rozwoju systemów logistycznych w transporcie.

Congestion in cities are a major challenge for science, because they are "bottlenecks" and other barriers that adversely affect the issue of accessibility. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the smooth functioning of transport systems in large urban areas for sustainable development of rural areas and to establish cooperation between municipal authorities, scientific institutions and business institutions, in order to activate the urban areas and increase their competitiveness, while improving the mobility of populations, in the context of documents and recommendations of EU transport policy. The article addresses problems associated with the methodology of rational management of research projects in the development of transport logistics systems.

W publikacji przedstawiono definicję i charakterystykę ładunków nienormatywnych (ponadgabarytowych). Scharakteryzowano aspekty prawne, bezpieczeństwo oraz organizację i technikę transportu ładunków różnymi rodzajami dróg ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem dróg wodnych śródlądowych i morskich. Wskazano także uwarunkowania i efekty rozwoju transportu ładunków ponadgabarytowych.

The demand for oversize construction components and their transport results from the development of the industrial sector. This publication defines and characterizes non-standard (oversize) cargoes, along with describing relevant legal aspects, safety and organization and methods of non-standard cargo by various waterways, with a focus on inland and sea routes. The author indicates both determinants and effects of oversize cargo transport development. The author presents the results of research done under the project: Port logistic centres as stimulants of the development of ports, port cities and coastal regions: research, modeling, the concept of location, operations and management. The project, coordinated by Czesława Christowa, is scheduled for the years 2011-2012 at the Maritime University of Szczecin, and financed by the National Science Centre.

In the paper problems of combined transport development are discussed. Process of Integrated Transportation Unit transshipment is mentioned as one of the most important from economical point of view. The classification of the technologies is carried out according to four categories: technology, operation, economy and ecology. The method of analysis is implemented into the expert system. Some examples of the system operation are shown.

In the paper problems of intermodal transport development are discussed. Type of Integrated Load Unit and TYPE OF transshipment equipment are the criterions of transport technology classification. The main features o intermodal transport technologies are discussed using the preferences. As a summarizing, the must important limitations of intermodal transport development are discussed.
