This paper aims to assess changes in mobility and modal shift caused by COVID-19 travel restrictions among the residents of Gdańsk Bay Metropolis (Poland). Measurement’s moments were assumed in periods differing in the level of restrictions. The computer-assisted telephone interview (CATI) was carried out in November and December 2020. The results did not confirm the expected modal shift. However, significant changes in the number of trips between periods were observed. Restrictions in the first period of the pandemic resulted in a greater decrease in mobility than the restrictions at the end of the year. Moreover, significant associations were found between transport behaviour and place of residence. Nevertheless, possible negative changes in the modal split after the pandemic ends should be counteracted by improving the quality of public transport services. As the most important attributes of public transport attracting passengers after the pandemic respondents recognized: high frequency of vehicles, low cost of travel, not overcrowded vehicles. However, some residents declared they will not use public transport regardless of service improvements. Consequently, to meet the objectives of sustainable mobility policy, it can be necessary to increase the share in the modal split of other sustainable modes of travel.

Opracowanie podejmuje tematykę ruchu rowerowego w położonym na Pomorzu ośrodku regionalnym – Słupsku – w ujęciu wieloaspektowym. Niniejszy artykuł jest kompleksowym studium przypadku. Badania oparto na komponencie organizacyjno-infrastrukturalnym, a więc na stanie obecnym oraz procesie rozwoju sieci dróg rowerowych w Słupsku, z uwzględnieniem ich przebiegu w strukturze urbanistycznej i przestrzeni miasta. Wykonano również analizę topologiczną sieci dróg rowerowych w mieście. Odniesiono się do działalności systemu roweru miejskiego oraz wypożyczalni rowerów cargo w 2021 r. Dodatkowo, wskazano szereg przykładów miejsc interesujących i newralgicznych z perspektywy praktyk mobilnościowych w ruchu rowerowym oraz interakcji z innymi uczestnikami ruchu. Badania zostały przeprowadzone na podstawie studiów literatury, analizy danych statystycznych oraz inwentaryzacji terenowej dokonanej przez autora. W końcowej części przedstawiono syntetyczne rekomendacje co do dalszego rozwoju systemu rowerowego Słupska, opierając się na postulatach znanych z literatury przedmiotu oraz środowiska eksperckiego, oficjalnych planach miasta oraz własnych obserwacjach.

The study deals with the subject of cycling in the regional centre located in Pomerania – Słupsk – in a multifaceted approach. This article is a comprehensive case study. The research was based on the organizational and infrastructural component, i.e. the current state and the process of development of the bicycle path network in Słupsk, taking into account their course in the urban structure and the city space. A topological analysis of the bicycle path network in the city was also performed. The author also referred to the activity of the city bike system and cargo bikes rental in 2021. In addition, a number of examples of interesting places from the perspective of mobility practices in cycling and in interaction with other road users were indicated by the author. The research was carried out on the basis of literature studies, statistical data analysis and field inventory. In the final part, synthetic recommendations for the further development of Słupsk cycling system are presented. They are based on the postulates taken from the literature and experts, official city plans and the author’s own observations.

The aim of the article is an attempt to show the role of actions taken in the area of Smart Mobility in the process of shaping Smart City. The paper presents examples of cities from all over the world, which implemented Smart City model solutions into their functional structure. The examples mentioned above concerned mainly the implementation of innovative and effective technologies in the area of transport and mobility, while being safe for the natural environment. As an example from Poland, the city of Szczecin was chosen – indicating ways to apply similar (to those used in the largest metropolises of the world) solutions in the field of transport and mobility, enabling the city to introduce intelligent, sustainable and inclusive development of the local community, and ultimately conducive to improving the quality of its life. The research used desk research analysis, analysis of domestic and foreign literature on the subject, as well as Polish and European legal regulations controlling the procedures related to the subject of the research.

Projekt skupia 21 partnerów z 5 krajów nadbałtyckich, zainteresowanych przede wszystkim przewożeniem, wzrastającej wciąż, masy towarowej przy wykorzystaniu najbardziej ekologicznego i efektywnego środka transportu jakim niewątpliwie jest żegluga śródlądowa.

International cooperation aiming at strengthening the inland transport, being a natural base for maritime harbours in the Baltic Sea region, is the key theme of the EMMA project. The project is carried out by 21 partners from 5 Baltic countries interested mainly in transport of the constantly increasing mass of goods while using the most ecological and effective mean of transport, which undoubtedly is the inland navigation.

Sustainable urban mobility plans are an important instrument for achieving the objectives of European transport policy. The plans are an instrument for improve the accessibility of urban areas, to ensure high quality public transport and creating sustainable mobility. The paper presents the most important EU and national strategic documents which determine the planning sustainable mobility.

On details of road infrastructure of Slovak Republic shows functions, operating efficiency, strong and weak aspects of road transportation. The basic part of the article are critical items and increase of efficiency of road transportation in conditions of Slovak Republic. In the last part it contains real steps to increase impact of road transportation in economic environment.
