Analysis of the results of short-term traffic noise measurements on the example of Sandomierska Street in Kielce

Acoustic climate in the vicinity of transportation routes is mainly affected by traffic noise. Traffic volume is decisive as regards noise emissions. Other contributing factors include road geometry and motion conditions, namely vehicle speed and the share of heavy vehicles. Every part of the road in the city has unique characteristics with respect to motion character, the route surroundings, and also every-day noise creating the so-called acoustic background. The paper presents the analysis of the results of traffic noise surveys on the example of a part of Sandomierska Street in Kielce. On a weekday, two one-hour surveys were performed, intended to measure traffic volume and to record sound levels. In the surveys, meteorological conditions were taken into account. On the basis of the data collected, the relations between the number of vehicles in motion, type of vehicles, travel direction and the noise recorded in the road were established.

W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań poziomu hałasu komunikacyjnego w otoczeniu ulicy o funkcji rozprowadzającej stanowiącej element układu drogowego miasta Bielsko-Biała. Badania przeprowadzono dla wybranych okresów czasu, w których obserwowano szczytowe natężenia ruchu odpowiednio w godzinach dopołudniowych i popołudniowych. Wyniki badań odniesiono do zarejestrowanych natężeń ruchu i udziału pojazdów ciężkich w strumieniu oraz wyników badań z lat ubiegłych.

In the paper are presented the results of the traffic noise level studies near the street which has distributive function in the road system of Bielsko-Biala city. The research was conducted for selected time periods which corresponded to observed peak traffic volumes respectively in the morning and afternoon. The results were referred to the recorded traffic flows, share of heavy vehicles in the traffic stream and previous years studies results.
