One of the most important problem in the analysis of city logistics systems is data collection. The solution, which could support this process is utilization of independent, easy to use devices. The paper is focused on the example of utilization the portable road traffic detectors. These devices are easy to use tools, which can help to collect traffic data including the vehicles classification. The Authors will introduce an example of practical utilization of this kind of device, Sierzega SR4, as well as the advantages related to that.

Unloading bays are one of the most popular and simple to implement measures in city logistics systems. The main strength of this measure is that it effectively reduces congestion effect due to that loading or unloading operations are realize in special area and not influence directly on traffic flow. However, the most important problem in utilization of unloading bays is their inappropriate use (as a normal parking space, not only for delivery vehicles during the delivering process) and the conflicts between users in the case of few deliveries at the same time and with utilization of the same unloading bay. The way to solve these problems is implementation of the telematics tools. The paper is focused on examples of utilization of mobile devices and sensors as the support for the unloading bays booking and use.

The article outlines the video registration method as well as research based on obtained video footage of the characteristics of traffic flow. The method is flexible and makes it possible to research various traffic characteristics. The article presents the method’s assumptions and the manner in which traffic flow characteristics were measured. The method of registering traffic flow parameters on video was implemented in 2012 in selected sections of Katowice’s road network. An important feature is the possibility of traffic flow parameterization with the use of popular camcorders. The thus-obtained footage is processed using so-called open library vision graphics procedures in order to establish traffic flow characteristics in near real-time.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę i wyniki oceny zintegrowanego detektora pojazdów. Badane urządzenie reprezentuje najnowszy trend budowy detektorów. W jednym urządzeniu zastosowano kilka metod detekcji. W badanym urządzeniu wykorzystano: pasywną podczerwień (PIR), ultradźwięki i elektromagnetyczne promieniowanie mikrofalowe. Celem badań było określenie dokładności, z jaką detektor pojazdów TT 298 pozyskuje dane. Ocenie poddano: zliczania pojazdów, określanie struktury rodzajowej, pomiar i prędkości pojazdów. Analizowano funkcjonalność urządzenia, łatwość gromadzenia i analizy wyników pomiarów.

This article presents testing methodology of combination traffic detector and its results. Detector that was evaluated is a new approach in traffic detection. It combines multiple technologies into one unit Detector utilizes three technologies: Doppler radar, ultrasonic and passive infrared. Evaluation goal was to determine detector accuracy of data acquisition. Examined data were volume, speed and classification. Usability, ease of installation, storing and processing data were also analyzed.
