The paper presents the problem of toxic compound emission in the exhaust of non-road vehicle engines. The presentation comprises the analysis of current regulations concerning the emission of toxic compounds in the exhaust of the said vehicle group. The analysis suggests that there are no legislative solutions on the control of emissions generated by the operated vehicles. The histograms for the operation of the selected vehicle group, actual operating conditions, the most commonly used load range and the engine speed were also presented in the paper, the engines were related to the operating points of the engine in the ISO 8178 homologation test. Furthermore, the tests results on toxic compound emission in the exhaust of selected vehicle engine were also presented.
