Kolorystyka stanowi część obszernego koncepcyjnego projektu na konkurs przebudowy Rynku w Wałbrzychu, który został wybrany do realizacji i wykonany na przełomie lat 1996-1997. Projekt ten obejmował praktycznie wszystkie skale: od 1 :10 000,1 : 5000,1 : 2000,1 : 1000 (dojazdy i dojścia do Rynku, parkingi, zmiany funkcji terenów obrzeży itp.), poprzez projekt koncepcyjny i budowlany w skalach 1 : 250 i 1 : 100 oraz detale od skali 1:20 do 1:1. Konieczność przebudowy Rynku wynikała z bardzo złego stanu technicznego posadzki, zwłaszcza schodów, podestów i niestarannie wykonanego nasypu w centralnej części placu oraz ze złego stanu podziemnej infrastruktury technicznej, która wymagała modernizacji i zmian. W projekcie przebudowy powrócono do założenia z 1857 r., kiedy to rozebrano barokowy ratusz, zbudowany w 1731 r., i założono ośmiokątną niewielką fontannę. Rok później oddano do użytku nowy, neogotycki ratusz, zlokalizowany na przyległym do Rynku Placu Magistrackim. W budynku tym do dzisiaj znajduje się siedziba władz miejskich Wałbrzycha.

The problem of colouring of historic town squares and places is a complex and exacting assingment. On the one hand the historic identity of the town ought to be retained and on the other the requirements and aspirations of the investors create the necessity of a slightly different approach to the subject. The basic difficulty is formed by the frequent lack of detailed photographic material, particularly iconographic, needed for the choice of an optimal reconstruction design solution, revalorization and revitalization, both in the urbanistic scale as well as the scale of architectonic detail. Often, as in the given example, it is necessary to employ the so-called transplantation which is founded on designing new elements, imitating the character of a particular place or the local or regional style. In the case of the new project of the Walbrzych town square, the paving and its colouring is not an element modeled on historic solutions. The author worked out a new project in which there are applied historic models of the art of paving linked with the attractive colouring of natural granite, verdure and small architecture so as to enhance the the historical values of this place. In August of 1999 - the town square paving in Walbrzych, based on the project mentioned above, was rendered accessible, together with the fountain. The complex realization of the whole project will require more time needed for the rebuilding of almost all the ground floor elevations of houses belonging to many owners.
