The paper is focused on the numerical calculation of total losses in each power device of 3L-SNPC (Stacked-NPC) and 3L-ASNPC (Active-SNPC) converters for a STATCOM application. The modulation functions and the conduction/switching intervals are elaborated in order to calculate the losses. These functions are specific for each power device depending on the structure’s type and on the PWM strategy. The obtained results for conduction currents (average and RMS values) are validated using PSIM simulations.

Artykuł przedstawia obliczenia numeryczne strat w przekształtnikach 3L-SNPC i 3L-ASNPC stosowanych w STATCOM. Funkcja modulacji i okres przełączania są uwzględnione w obliczeniach strat. Te funkcje są różne dla różnych urządzeń zależnie od struktury przekształtnika. Otrzymane wyniki były sprawdzone przy wykorzystaniu symulacji PSIM.

In the paper the new, based on the principle of the calorimetric method, laboratory stand for measurements of total loss of the induction motor is described. The stand is designed to test medium power of encapsulated motors fed from inverters. Test results of the motors obtained by the calorimetric method are compared to lest results obtained in an ordinary direct method test.

W referacie opisano, oparte na nowej koncepcji, stanowisko laboratoryjne do badania strat całkowitych metodą kalorymetryczną w silnikach małej i średniej mocy budowy zamkniętej. Przedstawiono wyniki pomiarów wykonanych na tym stanowisku strat całkowitych w silniku zasilanym z falownika i porównano te wyniki z pomiarami przeprowadzonymi metodą bezpośrednią.
