FPGA implementation of DPWM utility/DG interfaced solar (PV) power converter for green home power supply

In this paper, utility/DG interfaced DPWM solar (PV) power converter (SPC) has been proposed and developed to meet the growing green energy demand of household applications in a developing country like India. The use of new software based direct PWM strategy (DPWM) in the inverter circuit has resulted in to produce a very near sine-wave, most suitable for various home loads. Simulated results of proposed PWM output wave form and computation of its harmonics content in terms of THD value (upto 5% or even less) using MATLAB software has been reflected in the proposed scheme. The features like an intelligent control action to prevent battery from overcharge or undercharge, higher efficiency (> 90%), generation of grid quality green electricity, sustainability of solar renewable energy sources, cost effective hardware realization with FPGA based VLSI embedded system, shows the superiority of the proposed scheme over conventional power supply systems.

Ocena jakości energii elektrycznej w sieciach elektroenergetycznych wykorzystuje zestaw wielkości normatywnych i uzupełniających. Wśród tych wielkości znajdują się dwie miary zawartości harmonicznych w napięciu: widmo amplitudowe, czyli zestaw wartości poszczególnych harmonicznych oraz współczynnik odkształcenia THD. W pracy zaprezentowano przykładowe wyniki badań wybranego analizatora harmonicznych HA-2000 przeprowadzone na zaprojektowanym i wykonanym stanowisku pomiarowym. Prezentowane stanowisko pomiarowe umożliwia zadawanie wybranych sygnałów testowych - funkcji okresowych, pozwalających na ocenę dokładności pomiaru zawartości harmonicznych.

The electric power quality evaluation in electrical power networks is a complex measuring task carried out with the use of a set of standard and complementary quantities. Among these quantities two measures of harmonic contents in voltage can be mentioned: spectrum amplitude and coefficient THD. The paper presents examples of the measurement results of selected harmonic analyser - HA-2000, realized on a design measuring position. The measuring position makes it possible to set selected test signals - periodic functions which enable the evaluation of measuring accuracy of harmonic contents.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań symulacyjnych, a także wyniki badań eksperymentalnych trójfazowego prostownika diodowego mostkowego z układem modulacji trzecią harmoniczną prądu. Zaprezentowano metodę redukcji wyższych harmonicznych w prądach zasilających w prostowniku trójfazowym diodowym mostkowym. Przekształtnik AC/DC zbudowany jest z trójfazowego prostownika diodowego mostkowego i układu aktywnej generacji prądu trzeciej harmonicznej.

In this paper the results of simulation and experiment tests is presented of AC/DC converter modulated with third harmonic. This paper presents the method of reducing harmonic currents on the ac supply side of the three-phase diode bridge rectifier. The AC/DC converter system consists of three-phase diode bridge rectifier and active generation third harmonic current circuit.
