W ramach badań zostały zsyntetyzowane i przebadane metodą spektrofotometrii UV-Vis pochodne acetyloacetonu, m.in. takie jak: 3-allil-2,4-pentanodion, 3-benzylo-2,4-pentanodion, 3-butylo-2,4- pentanodion, benzoiloaceton, dibenzoilometan, 3-metyl-2,4-pentanodion, 3-trimetylosililopropylo-2,4-pentanodion, oraz ich związki kompleksowe z Cu(II) i Co(II). Wykonano również badania widm masowych EI kompleksów 2,4-pentanodionu z różnymi kationami metali, o wzorze ogólnym Me(acac) n , gdzie n=2-4. Ponadto przeprowadzono badania nad możliwością zastosowania acetyloacetonianowych pochodnych cyny(IV) jako prekursorów w metodzie zol-żel. Stwierdzono, że badane związki wykazują interesujące wła- ściwości spektroskopowe, charakteryzują się dużą stałą trwałości i mogą być z powodzeniem stosowane w wielu dziedzinach, m.in. jako prekursory w metodzie zol-żel i inne.

Within the present research, acetylacetone derivatives have been synthesised and tested using UV-Vis spectrophotometry; the derivatives include: 3-allyl-2,4-pentanedione, 3-benzyl2,4-pentanedione, 3-butyl2,4-pentanedione, benzoylacetone, dibenzoylmethane, 3-methyl2,4-pentanedione, 3-trimethylsilylpropyl-2,4-pentanedione and their Cu(II) and Co(II) complex compounds. Furthermore, EI mass spectra were recorded of 2,4-pentanedione with various metal cations of general formula Me(acac) n , where n=2-4. The possibility of using acetylacetonate tin(IV)derivatives as precursors in the sol-gel method was also investigated. The compounds tested were found to have interesting spectroscopic properties, with high stability constants; they may be successfully used in various areas, e.g. as sol-gel precursors, etc.

The paper discisses and compares old recipes for mosaic gold {tin(IV) disulphide} of European and Chnese alchemists. The authors have also checked the reactions using some modern methods, like thermal analysis and thermodynamics, concluding that the Chinese recipes are fully credible.
