Dynamiczny rozwój silników spalinowych ukierunkowany jest m.in. na proekologiczność, wzrost wydajności i obniżenie masy silnika. Wymusza to potrzebę modyfikacji zarówno silników jak i zmian w stosowanych podzespołach. Zmiany parametrów i charakterystyk pracy oraz wymagania konstrukcyjne prowadzą do wprowadzania zmian w układach rozrządu. W artykule przedstawiono przegląd konstrukcji układów rozrządu oraz pasów zębatych wykorzystywanych w tych układach. Wykazano zalecenia konstrukcyjne w zakresie stosowanych materiałów, konstrukcji pasów oraz zastosowań w zależności od jednostki napędowej.

The dynamic development of the combustion engines is directed to ecology, an increase efficiency and reduce engine mass. It forces the need for modifications of engines and for developments in relevant components. Changes of parameters and performance characteristic and construction requirements lead to changes in engine timing system. This paper presents an overview of timing belts used in engine timing system, indicating the materials used, construction and the application belts, depending on the drive unit.

An analysis of chosen engine failures of the "Seismic research" type ships

This article presents chosen failures, which occurred on one of the ships with the Diesel Electric type propulsion operating as the “Seismic Research” type ship. The specifics of maritime units requires high reliability of both the engine as well as other machines of the ship power system, which leads to their practically continuous uninterrupted operation. This study deals with the occurring failures of timing gear and piston-connecting rod systems of engines of chosen ships of the “Seismic Research” type.
