The paper presents the results of gravimetric studies conducted in the northern part of the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB, S Poland) in the year 2002 and 2003. Within a year, two series of measurements were conducted on the stabilized set of points in the subrectangular study area (26x36 km). The study aimed at detecting time variations of the regional gravity field. The gravity field influences several geological processes upon which depend rock mass stability in the upper parts of the lithosphere and the shape of the Earth’s surface. This field is also a cause of rock mass move-ments in areas of underground mining activity. Thus, the main goal of the study was to determine the correlation of temporal variations of the gravitational field with the geological structure of the area and the underground hard coal exploitation (subsidence, seismic tremors). Additionally, an attempt was made to determine whether the correlation could be used to monitor current geodynamic processes in USCB.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę wyznaczania zmian czasowych strumieni objętości powietrza w rejonach eksploatacyjnych, oporów aerodynamicznych tych rejonów oraz zachodzących w nich dyssypacji energii użytecznej. Znajomość wymienionych wielkości dla różnych okresów eksploatacji górniczej pozwala na właściwą ocenę pracy wentylatorów głównego przewietrzania w czasie całego okresu działalności kopalni. Wyznaczone prognostycznie strumienie objętości powietrza dla tych okresów pozwalają także na prawidłowe ustalenie profilaktyki zwalczania występujących zagrożeń naturalnych i technologicznych. Metodę wyznaczania zmian czasowych ilości powietrza, oporów oraz dyssypacji energii zilustrowano na przykładzie wziętym z praktyki górniczej.

The methods of determining of the time changes in the air-flow volume within the mine panels as well as the air-flow resistances of these panels and occurring there the effective dissipation energy have been presented in the paper. The knowledge of the above mentioned values in various periods of mining allows the operation of the main ventilation fans during all the time of the mine activity to be evaluated properly. The air-flow volumes being determined in prognostic way in these periods allow also the preventive treatments for the occurring natural and processing hazards to be set correctly. The methods of determining of the time changes in the air volume, as well as the air-flow resistances and the energy dissipation have been illustrated by the examples taken from the mining experience.
