Eksploatacja pokładów cienkich, czyli takich o miąższości do 1,6 m wiąże się z ograniczeniami technicznymi, ergonomicznymi oraz ekonomicznymi. Wybieranie pokładów rozpoczyna się od średnich i grubych a cienkie często eksploatowane są tylko wtedy, gdy jest wymagane ze względów bezpieczeństwa. Jednak wraz z wyczerpywaniem złóż węgla kamiennego zachodzi konieczność ich wybierania. Duże zróżnicowanie warunków było przyczyną powstania wielu metod i systemów eksploatacji oraz maszyn stosowanych czasami jedynie lokal-nie w różnych zakątkach świata. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane metody stosowane w eksploatacji pokładów cienkich w kopalniach podziemnych jak i z powierzchni. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na nietypowe i rzadko stosowane metody oraz maszyny, które nie są występują w Polsce. Omówiono maszyny urabiające pracujące w systemach komorowo-filarowych oraz metodach Highwall mining, Auger mining a także Punch longwall mining. Natomiast systemy ścianowe omówiono w artykule „Maszyny urabiające w ścianowych systemach eksploatacji cienkich pokładów węgla kamiennego”.

The exploitation of thin seams with the thickness of up to 1.6 m connected with technical, ergonomic and economic limitation. Selection of seams start from medium and thick and thin are often exploited only when it is required for safety reasons. However, as hard coal deposits run out, it is necessary to select them. The wide variety of conditions has led to the development of many exploitation methods and systems, as well as machines that are sometimes used only locally in different parts of the world. The article presents selected methods of exploitation of thin coal seams in underground as well as surface mines. Special attention has been paid to untypical and rarely used methods and machines that are not present in Poland. The paper discusses mining machines working in room and pillar mining and methods of Highwall mining, Auger mining and Punch Longwall mining. However, the wall systems were discussed in the article of "Cutting machines in longwall systems of exploitation of thin coal seams”.

Podziemna eksploatacja pokładów cienkich, czyli takich o miąższości do 1,6 m związana jest z szeregiem ograniczeń i trudności, stąd zazwyczaj eksploatowane są dopiero po wybraniu złóż bardziej opłacalnych ekonomicznie czyli średnich i grubych lub gdy jest to wymagane ze względów bezpieczeństwa. Jednak wyczerpywanie złóż węgla kamiennego przemawia za ich eksploatacją. Duże zróżnicowane warunków było przyczyną powstania wielu metod i systemów eksploatacji. W artykule skupiono się na ścianowych systemach eksploatacji tych pokładów. Przedstawiono najważniejsze założenia i zalety eksploatacji ścianowej oraz omówiono stosowane maszyny urabiające stanowiące kluczowy element systemów mechanizacyjnych. Zwrócono również uwagę na nie stosowane w Polsce rozwiązania kombajnów i statycznych strugów węglowych. Na koniec przytoczono krótko innowacyjne rozwiązanie kompleksu ścianowego wyposażonego w kombajn jednoorganowy do pracy w ścianach od 1,0 m do 1,6 m. Natomiast pozostałe wybrane metody omówiono w artykule „Maszyny urabiające w wybranych metodach eksploatacji cienkich pokładów węgla kamiennego”.

The underground exploitation of thin seams, ie. seams with the thickness of up to 1.6 m, is associated with a numerous limitations and difficulties, therefore they are usually exploited only after selecting deposits that are more economically viable, ie. medium and thick ones, or when it is required for the safety reasons. However, the depletion of hard coal deposits argues in favour of their exploitation. The wide variety of conditions has led to the development of many methods and systems of exploitation. The article focuses on longwall systems of exploitation of these seams. The most important assumptions and advantages of wall exploitation were presented and the mining machines used as a crucial element of the mechanization systems were discussed. Attention was also paid to the solutions of shearers and coal plows not used in Poland. Finally, an innovative solution of a longwall system equipped with a single-cutting head longwall shearer working in walls from 1.0 to 1.6 m was briefly presented. The longwall systems were discussed in the article of " Cutting machines in selected methods of exploitation of thin seams of hard coal.

Mining of thin coal seams using surface-underground methods

Shallow hard coal deposits in the form of seams can be mined using surface-underground methods. These methods are characterized by the exploitation of the deposit from the surface, while the mining process itself takes place underground. The large variability of the mining and geological conditions was the reason for the emergence of many mining methods and systems as well as machines, sometimes used only locally in various parts of the world. The article presents the surface-underground methods used around the world. Attention is paid to unusual and rarely used methods and machines, which are not utilized in Polandfor various reasons. The present article discusses mining machines used in the methods of Highwall, Auger, and Punch longwall mining along with their types and varieties.

W artykule omówiono nowe rozwiązania konstrukcyjne innowacyjnego wydajnego systemu ścianowego do wybierania niskich pokładów węgla z wykorzystaniem głowicy urabiająco-ładującej i integralnie z nią związanego przenośnika ścianowego. Przedstawiono również podstawowe parametry techniczne poszczególnych urządzeń kompleksu. Omówiono technologię eksploatacji zapewniającą wysokie wydobycie przy zachowaniu bezpieczeństwa załóg górniczych, mimo ograniczonej gabarytami wyrobiska, zdolności tych załóg do sprawnej obsługi systemu. Przedstawiono również plany związane z wdrożeniem kompleksu do eksploatacji.

The paper discusses new design solutions of the innovative efficient longwall system designed for thin coal seams with the use of cutting-loading machine and a conveyor integrated with it. Additionally author describes technical parameters of particular devices in the longwall system. Moreover the paper is focused on technology of coal cutting, that ensures high productivity, with appropriate safety measures for the mine staff, despite small dimensions of the working area, taking into consideration the abilities of the mine staff to use efficiently the system. The plan of implementing the system into operation is mentioned as well.
