Systems of information on location conditions used in large urban agglomerations are characterized by a great demand for graphic and descriptive data. The ways of data elaboration and holding, methods of their introduction into the system and relations between them are problems that should be solved while creating the above systems. The paper discusses conceptions concerning the introduction and presentation of graphic and descriptive data in the system prepared for the needs of the District Warszawa Centrum. An important element of the system creation is the technology of employing raster graphic materials in the form of a basic map.

Systemy informacji terenowej wykorzystywane w dużych aglomeracjach miejskich charakteryzują się ogromnym zapotrzebowaniem na dane graficzne i opisowe. Sposób przygotowania tych danych, metody wprowadzania ich do systemu, sposoby przechowywania oraz relacje między nimi stanowią grupę zagadnień, które należy rozwiązać przy tworzeniu SIT. Autorzy artykułu przedstawili koncepcje wprowadzania, relacji i prezentacji danych graficznych i opisowych w systemie wykonanym na potrzeby gminy Warszawa Centrum. Istotnym elementem tworzenia systemu jest technologia wykorzystania rastrowych materiałów garficznych w postaci mapy zasadniczej.
