Content available remote Numerical Modelling of Geometrical Parameters of Textile Composites

This paper describes a simple sinusoidal geometrical model of textile composites. On the basis of this model, how to obtain certain geometrical parameters that fully characterize the geometry of the composite structure will be presented. Using geometrical considerations, it is possible to obtain from this model basic mechanical parameters that are very useful for further strength analysis. Such mechanical considerations and a method for calculating mechanical parameters will be presented in future articles. On the basis of the above-mentioned theoretical considerations, a special computer program was developed. The method of calculation presented in this paper can be applied to more complicated models of textile composites.

W artykule przedstawiono geometryczny sinusoidalny model kompozytu tekstylnego. Na podstawie tego modelu zaprezentowano metodę do obliczania parametrów geometrycznych, opisujących analizowaną strukturę. Wykorzystując przedstawione w pracy rozważania jest również możliwe uzyskanie na podstawie modelu podstawowych parametrów mechanicznych przydatnych do dalszej analizy wytrzymałościowej. Takie rozważania mechaniczne będą przedstawione w przyszłym artykule. Na podstawie analizy teoretycznej został stworzony specjalny program komputerowy do przeprowadzania obliczeń. Metoda zaprezentowana w artykule może być także zastosowana do bardziej złożonych modeli kompozytów tekstylnych.

Content available remote Analysis of the stability of a flat textile structure

This paper deals with a specific method of examining the state of equilibrium of a flat textile structure. This kind of structure is modelled as an inextensible elastica loaded with its dead weight and axial force. The elastica represents, as an example, a longitudinal section of a fabric. It is assumed that the elastica rests on a flat, immovable base. We considered only those forms of deformed elastica where it's the two ends were supported by pivot bearings, and the tangent at those points lay on the immovable supporting plane. In the analysis, the shape of the deflection curve was determined for a given axial force, and it was examined whether a given position is stable or unstable. The analysis was carried out on the basis of the energetic method, by examining the potential energy of the system. The investigations can be used for simulations of fabric buckling, folding and other applications of textile mechanics.

Content available remote Numerical identification of elasticity coefficients for the bending problem

A test for identifying elasticity coefficients for the bending problem is discussed. Bending is a problem of flat textiles, and its existence is demonstrated by experimental material on the basis of coordinates of a bent sample. In this paper, we propose another usage of Peirce's cantilever test for determining the relationship between bending moment and curvature. Measuring error was taken into consideration during analysis. The results of calculation have been limited to the relationship between bending moment and curvature mainly of the second degree, but in this way the relationships of a higher degree can be examined. For the analysis a special computer program was developed, which can calculate the coordinates of a bent sample on the basis of an image saved as a .bmp file (bitmap).
