The contribution deals with some case studies of steel structure failures, which happened in Slovakia a few years ago. Features of cracking are illustrated on real cases of breakdowns in the transmission gas pipelines, at the cement works and in the petrochemical industry. All failures were caused by an incorrect technical approach. Possible remedial measures are proposed.

This paper presents a study of using two potential formulations to solve the TEAM problem No. 27 (Eddy Current NDT and Deep Flaws). A procedure to determine arbitrary periodic excitation signal by using Fourier series will also be shown. The numerical results are compared with the experimental waveforms. The goal of this work is to find the more precise and the faster formulation and to approximate the response of a linear electromagnetic system, when the excitation is a periodic signal.

Artykuł przedstawia badania dwóch sformułowań w rozwiązywaniu TEAM problemu No. 2. Omówiono też procedurę określania dowolnie periodycznego sygnału wzbudzenia przez użycie szeregu Fouriera. Wyniki obliczeń porównano z wynikami eksperymentu. Celem tej pracy jest znalezienie szybszej i bardziej precyzyjnej procedury do aproksymacji odpowiedzi liniowego systemu elektromagnetycznego na okresowy sygnet wzbudzenia.
