We describe the development of a new type of heat exchanger. This heat exchanger operates using reverse thermosiphon action and consists of a self-acting and self-controlled liquid circulation loop with heat transfer in a downward direction, opposite to the direction of natural convection. This process moves a heat-carrying hot liquid downwards with the help of local heat transferred through the loop. This flow loop is partly filled with liquid and the upper part of the loop contains vapour from the liquid heat-carrier. The pressure difference in the saturated vapour is used to move the heated liquid downwards. The principles of action and the possibility of developing such a device using laboratory experimental methods are presented.

Do przekazywania ciepła w kierunku przeciwnym do kierunku konwekcji naturalnej proponowany jest termosyfon odwrotny, który w zwykłym obiegu cyrkulacyjnym zastępuje pompę cyrkulacyjną. Jako źródło energii termosyfon odwrotny wykorzystuje tylko małą część ciepła, które podlega przekazywaniu. Urządzenie to działa samorzutnie i cyklicznie. Dla wymuszenia cyrkulacji wykorzystywana jest różnica ciśnienia pary nasyconej czynnika roboczego w gałęziach obiegu ciepłej i zimnej. Jest to zupełnie nowy typ wymiennika ciepła, nie znany i nie wykorzystywany jeszcze w praktyce światowej.

Reverse thermosiphon is offered for a heat transfer in direction opposite to direction of a natural convection. Reverse thermosiphon substitutes the circulating pump in a usual circulating contour. The device works autonomously and cyclically. The difference of pressure of a saturated vapour in warm and cold branches of a contour is used for a forcing of circulation of the heat-carrier.
