The use of modern driver control systems as part of the transport company management system

Controlling operating costs and reducing them is one of the most important elements of transport management in today’s highly competitive market. Actions taken by transport companies should be carried out in two ways. On the one hand, the company must strive to obtain new transport orders, on the other hand, it should also take actions aimed at optimising the activities currently being undertaken. The article uses the method of examining documents. The research problem and the purpose of the article was to answer the question whether the use of modern driver control systems can be used not only to improve safety and driving comfort, but also to reduce the cost of transport services. The article compares the costs of transport services on similar routes using modern fleet equipped with two types of cruise control: traditional and adaptive.

Bezpieczeństwo realizacji usługi transportowej stanowi jeden z kluczowych elementów podczas prowadzenie działalności. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych wśród kierowców zawodowych. Przeprowadzone ankiety dotyczyły oceny skuteczności oraz zasadności zastosowania systemów wspomagających pracę kierowcy, które wpływają głównie na komfort jazdy, ale pośrednio mają również wpływ na bezpieczeństwo, która została dokonana przez kierowców zawodowych. Badanymi systemami były tempomat i tempomat adaptacyjny.

The security of the transport service is one of the key elements of the business. This article presents the results of surveys conducted among professional drivers. The questionnaires concerned the assessment of the effectiveness and appropriateness of the driver-assisted driving systems that primarily affect driving comfort, but indirectly also affect the safety of drivers. The tested systems were cruise control system and adaptive cruise control.

W artykule omówiono budowę i zasadę działania systemu aktywnego tempomatu. Opisano elementy wchodzące w skład systemu ACC począwszy od czujników aż po systemy bezpieczeństwa czynnego takie jak ABS i ESP. Przedstawiono rozmieszczenie elementów i scharakteryzowano ich współpracę zapewniającą prawidłowe działanie systemu ACC. W badaniach drogowych, które zrealizowano w ramach pracy, sprawdzono zachowanie się pojazdu wyposażonego w układ ACC. Sprawdzono jego działanie podczas hamowania, zatrzymywania i przyspieszania pojazdu. Zbadano zachowanie systemu przy jeździe na łuku za innym pojazdem oraz sprawdzono reakcję systemu przy zajechaniu drogi przez pojazd wyprzedzający.

The article discusses the design and operation of the system of active cruise control. Describes the elements included in the ACC from the sensors to the active safety systems such as ABS and ESP. They show the distribution of elements and characterized their cooperation ensures proper operation of the ACC system. In studies of road, which was carried out in the context of work, checked the behaviour of the vehicle equipped with the ACC. Tested for its effectiveness during braking, stopping and acceleration of the vehicle. We examined the behaviour of the system when driving on a curve behind another vehicle and checked the reaction of the system when the road is blocked by the overtaking vehicle.
