The important step is to use volumetric pre-stack depth migration of seismic data to construct high-quality geological models for complicated tectonic zones, the development of salt-dome tectonics, substantially curved reflectors. As а result of building the digital geological model of the South-Ostashkovichskogo oil field, which is characterized by а complex tectonic structure, is developed method of building the structural and tectonic scheme of similar fields, based on data received as а result of seismic pre-stack depth migration.

The tectonic zones of Fennoscandia have been inserted in the seismicity map. There seems to be increased seismicity in areas related to certain discontinuities, such as major tectonic zones, indicating that the seismic occurrence is caused by stress concentrations. The origin of the stress may principally be the ridge push from the Iceland-Jan Mayen segment of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
