There is the transition from coal-based power sector to renewable energy. Conventional electrical power plants and heating plants are a temporary tool enabling the development of RES. Transformation of the Polish energy sector will have consequences for the operation of the coal mines. The pace of change must be adapted to local social and economic conditions. Conventional energy dilemmas relate primarily to the timing of introduction of the new, alternative technologies and to principles of financing of the conventional power plants and electrical power and heating plants in a changing market.

W różnych gałęziach przemysłu, w tym w galwanotechnice, stosuje się wiele substancji chemicznych. Niektóre z nich dopiero niedawno zostały zidentyfikowane jako niebezpieczne dla zdrowia i środowiska. Do tej grupy należy kwas perfluorooktanosulfonowy (PFOS) i jego pochodne. O innych, jak np. kadmie i jego związkach, już wcześniej było wiadomo, że wykazują szkodliwe właściwości, jednak do tej pory nie znaleziono dla nich dobrych zamienników. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z regulacjami prawnymi dotyczącymi, stosowania wymienionych substancji niebezpiecznych, jak też próby znalezienia ich zamienników.

There is a number of different chemical substances used in the electroplating industry. Some of them have been recently identified as harmful for health and environment. For example, perfluorooctane sulphonic acid (PFOS) and its derivatives have been introduced into this group in 2002. Other hazardous substances, such as cadmium and its compounds, have been well recognised, however up to now no reasonable alternatives of them have been introduced in the electroplating industry. Relevant issue concerning European legal regulations for the use of selected dangerous substances in the electroplating industry and their alteratives is presented in this article.
