The article presents one of the most important technological trends in the context of the development of logistics, the Internet of Things (IoT). The key aspects and main technologies used in this concept have been characterized. Several actual examples of the Internet of Things solutions in logistics operations have been presented. The potential benefits and limitations of using IoT for logistics operators have been analyzed. The need to pay attention to two new developments that may have a very large impact on the development of logistics has been pointed out, ie. To the "Internet of Everything" and to the so-called fourth industrial revolution.

Celem artykułu jest analiza jednego z ważniejszych wyzwań technologicznych w kontekście rozwoju logistyki jakim jest Internet Rzeczy (IR). Scharakteryzowano jego kluczowe aspekty i technologie. Szczególna uwaga została poświęcona rozwojowi nowego standardu dla sieci 5 generacji (5G), bez której efektywne funkcjonowanie całej infrastruktury Internetu Rzeczy byłoby w dużym stopniu ograniczone. Przedstawiono kilka rzeczywistych i koncepcyjnych przykładów rozwiązań Internetu Rzeczy w działaniach logistycznych. Przeanalizowano potencjalne korzyści i ograniczenia z tym związane. Zasygnalizowano konieczność zwrócenia uwagi na nowe zjawisko, które może mieć bardzo duży wpływ na rozwój logistyki, tj. „Internetu Wszystkiego”. Jest to kolejna faza rozwoju Internetu Rzeczy jako nowego gospodarczo-technologiczego ekosystemu, w skład którego mogą wchodzić takie podsystemy jak: dane informacyjne, rzeczy, ludzie i procesy.

The article presents one of the most important technology challenge in the context of the development of logistics – the Internet of Things (IoT). Particular attention was paid to the development of a new standard – 5G network, without which the effective functioning of the entire structure of the Internet of Things would be largely limited. Article shows some examples of real and conceptual solutions to Internet of Things in logistics operations. Analyzes the potential benefits and limitations of using IoT in logistics. Author described new phenomenon that will have a very large impact on the development of logistics, i.e. The "Internet of Everything". It is the next stage of development of the Internet of Things as a new economic and technological ecosystem which may include such subsystems as: information data, things, people, processes.
