Początki technologii budowy mostów betonowych metodą nawisową w Polsce sięgają połowy lat 60. XX wieku. Prekursorem był Maksymilian Wolf, inżynier który położył ogromne zasługi dla polskiego mostownictwa.

The paper describes the development of balanced free cantilevering method in Poland in recent 20 years. Starting from early pioneer project A-l Motorway in Torun, the main aspects of design and execution are mentioned. Special attention is devoted to progress in improving efficiency. It is stated that most of realizations concern the classical balanced cantilevering method, however 2 special projects are described: Zwierzyniecki Bridge in Cracow, which was strongly influenced by architectural concept following the SARP Competition. The second special project was stay-cable portion of Millennium Bridge in Wroclaw - the only concrete stay-cable structure in Poland built by free cantilevering method. It is stated that the development of this construction method had a very positive influence on design and execution of cast in-situ concrete structures in Poland.
