Artykuł prezentuje zarys historii stosowanych technik i przebieg procesu budowlanego w świątyni Hatszepsut w Deir el-Bahari w Egipcie. Na wstępie opisano wygląd świątyni z XV wieku p.n.e. i przybliżono postać jej fundatorki. Następnie w oparciu o źródła, badania laboratoryjne i terenowe prześledzono podstawowe materiały i techniki budowlane wykorzystywane podczas wznoszenia świątyni i odniesiono je do aktualnego stanu badań. Wstępne analizy poszczególnych elementów konstrukcyjnych pozwoliły wykazać przywiązanie do tradycji, a jednocześnie nowatorskie na ówczesne czasy rozwiązania, jakie wykorzystali budowniczowie świątyni. Całość wraz z uwzględnieniem wyników badań starożytnych procesów budowlanych pozwala podjąć próbę poszerzenia wiedzy na temat historii budowy świątyni w okresie Nowego Państwa w Egipcie.

This paper presents an outline of the history of the techniques used and the course of the building process in the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari in Egypt. The introduction describes the appearance of the temple from the fifteenth century BC and discusses its founder. Then, based on the literature, laboratory and field studies, the basic building materials and techniques used during the construction of the temple were investigated and compared to the current state of research. Preliminary analyses of individual structural elements found and demonstrated attachment to tradition and, at the same time, solutions that were innovative for those times, used by the builders of the temple. The whole, together with the results of the study of ancient building processes, provides new insights into the history of the construction of the temple during the New Kingdom period in Egypt.

The social integration of people, the common belief of a particular group of people, contributed to the creation of a very fine and sincere architecture, which celebrated the habits and lifestyles of a particular community. National, traditional architecture is not a style, but rather, a glimpse of the world and life, the nature and genius loci, attitude towards life processes and materials, towards climate and authenticity. Traditional construction and building techniques help us establish new innovative architecture, to improve our living conditions in as much as the environment.

Obszerna publikacja składa się z dwóch wzajemnie uzupełniających się części: teoretycznej, zawierającej podstawowe przesłanki stosowanych współcześnie zasad i metod ochrony zabytków, oraz terminologicznej. Autor mocno osadza je i komentuje na tle licznych konkretnych dzieł konserwatorskich, z których płynące doświadczenie zawsze było czynnikiem postępu. Praca jest napisana językiem czytelnym i zrozumiałym, choć będąc podręcznikiem akademickim jest zarazem pracą naukową. Prezentuje merytorycznie nowoczesną, opartą na współczesnej technice opcję ochrony zabytków architektury i urbanistyki i odnosi się do najnowszych przesłanek teoretycznych.

This vast publication consists of two mutually complementing parts: the theoretical one containing the essential premises for the currently applied principles and methods of monument protection, and the terminological one. The author firmly bases them on and comments against the background of numerous conservation works, since the experience acquired in the process has always been an element of progress. The work is written in a legible and comprehensible language, although - as a university textbook - it is also a scientific study. It presents an option for protecting monuments of architecture and urban planning which is factually modern and based on contemporary technology, and refers to the most recent theoretical premises.
