Both contributing to the Alliance collective defence and the need of active participation in allied multinational operations of crisis management seems impossible without other countries’ forces co-operation, logistic co-operation including. This, in turn, requires reaching and maintaining an appropriate range and level of interoperability. Hence wherever certain types of armament are used by more than one country’s forces, the Alliance recommends a co-ordinated approach to logistics supplies. Special capabilities are created by the consolidation of supply assets and needs to maintain them in use. In case of Polish Air Force, one of the measures facilitating to reach this goal is Aircraft Cross-servicing (ACS). Its main aim is to increase NATO Rapid Reaction Forces flexibility in the area of base changing, recreating deployment effectiveness, preparing for the next take-off and accomplishing tasks by tactical air force by gaining a possibility to conduct operations from airports other than main operational bases and new base airfields.

The article presents contemporary tendencies of developing land forces technical supplies in operations taking into consideration conditions connected with reaching interoperability with other NATO armies and changes that take place in theories of waging military operations. A low level of Polish Armed Forces’ interoperability with other NATO members (the lack of it in fact), particularly in the area of armament and military equipment causes that the technical supply organisation of forces that take part in allied operations both on the territory of Poland and outside is very complicated. It is estimated that the higher level of standardisation that the land forces achieve with other NATO armies the fewer problems connected with their technical supply. The article includes also new phenomena and tendencies resulting from creating in Europe international operational brigades and multinational logistics functioning to a larger extent and tasks resulting from the host nation function in case of waging an allied military operation on the host country territory.
