Purpose: The realization of large, characterized by high uncertainty and variability IT projects is usually complicated and overlong, and their effectiveness often lower than expected. Hence the role of the project leader as the person responsible for the success of the project is of particular importance. In this context the purpose of the paper was to investigate the relationship between technical (directional in IT) education and technical experience in IT of a leader, and team work effectiveness in IT projects, recognized as one of the predictors of the project's success. Design/methodology/approach: Empirical research was conducted to verify the existence of the predicted relationship and to reach the aim of the paper. The study was quantitative in character. The set of hypotheses was built based on the theoretical research and then verified the CAWI method on sample of 178 respondents working on IT projects in organizations operating in Poland. The calculations were made using the PS Imago Pro ver. 7.0 and Process macro for SPSS ver. 4.1 by Andrew F. Hayes. Findings: It has been shown that there is indirect relationship between the studied variables, and the mediators of this relationship are leader’s technical competences and the leader’s efficiency. There is a mediation relationship between the dependent variable (team work effectiveness) and independent variables (technical education and technical experience in IT of a leader). Research limitations/implications: Performed empirical study is burdened with certain limitations. The obtained sample of 178 respondents is by far not a representative sample and verified only in one business context (Poland). In order to generalize the results in future research cross-national study and larger samples can be collected. Practical implications: The obtained results contribute to practice of management, showing that among various groups of factors determining team work effectiveness in IT projects both soft and hard (technical) competencies of the leader are important. The latter are shaped by the technical, directional (in IT) education and technical (in IT) experience of the leader. This has practical implications, especially for HR services in the process of employees recruitment. In addition to soft skills, knowledge of programming languages and programming experience should be a significant assets wanted when hiring IT project managers. Originality/value: This research enhances understanding factors determining team work effectiveness in IT projects. The research make an important contribution to the body of project management and human resources management literature by demonstrating the meaning of the technical education and technical experience of a leader for team work effectiveness in IT projects.

Mentoring odwrócony stanowi jedno z systematycznie wykorzystywanych, niezmiennie uznawanych i cenionych narzędzi wspomagających różnego typu strategie aktywizacji i wykorzystania potencjału intelektualnego członków korporacji. W niniejszym artykule (część I) zaprezentowano główne odmiany mentoringu, w tym również mentoring odwrócony. W II części artykułu przedstawiono, związany z mentoringiem odwróconym projekt ERASMUS+ HeMan, pokazujący, w jakich obszarach funkcjonowania i działalności firmy budowlanej może zostać wykorzystany mentoring odwrócony.

Mentoring is one of the systematically used, invariably recognized and valued tools supporting various types of activation strategies and the use of intellectual potential of corporate members. This paper (part I) presents the main types of mentoring, including reverse mentoring. The second part of the article presents the ERASMUS + HeMan project related to reverse mentoring, showing in which areas of operation and activities of a construction company reverse mentoring can be used.

It is shown that in order to achieve technical competence of a testing laboratory needed is to introduce a system approach for organizing and conducting laboratory tests, guided by the principles of modern management and using the statistical methods for establishing and evaluating the accuracy of results. Modern statistical approaches include: application of statistical indicators of accuracy of techniques that are able to evaluate influence as random and systematic effects, using the parametric model of variances for assessing the accuracy of results obtained in the same laboratory and model of variance component when assessing the accuracy of results in interlaboratory experiments; application of statistical models of test results, which are focused on definition of various indicators of accuracy depending on current tasks; estimation of equal influence factors in laboratories when analyzing the intermediate precision measures; estimation of acceptability of the results; estimation of uncertainty on statistical indicators without analyzing sources of influence quantities.

Wprowadzanie do praktyki laboratoryjnej systemu kontroli i zapewnienia jakości jest swego rodzaju gwarancją, że w laboratorium wykonuje się analizy w najlepszy możliwy sposób. Jest to proces wymagający podjęcia działań zakrojonych na bardzo szeroką skalę, dużych nakładów finansowych oraz pracy ze strony wszystkich pracowników. Jednym z elementów systemu jakości jest walidacja metod analitycznych wykorzystywanych w laboratorium.

This process requires taking action on a very wide scale, huge costs and a lot of work. Validation of analytical methods used in the laboratory is one of the elements of quality system.

Actions planned within the project Technical Knowledge AcceleratorŽ - Mobile laboratory of technical, mathematical and natural science knowledge are pilot actions, and the intent of their authors was to shape them in such way that they could develop also after the EU financing period is over, also in other regions. All these actions favor creating partner relations and development of interregional and international cooperation. Since the most probable is financing from the EU sources, a high level of bureaucracy in accounting and management of the projects must be considered which to certain extent will surely obstruct actions aiming at innovative solutions, which by nature do not comply with inflexible program frames in which the responsibility for solving complex problems is artificially divided between Intermediate Institutions with limited authorities. Despite organizational shortcomings it is worth to make an effort to realize the project and to make the mobile laboratory visiting schools pave a way for the development of innovation culture from the earliest age.

Quality of life of citizens of every country, including Poland, is strictly connected with economic decelopment. One of the factors defining economy level is rate of implementation and development of innovativeness in production and services. A corner stone of stable and dynamic development of innovativeness is development of intellectual capital in which a very important factor is human capital [3] and technical knowledge in particular. For it to be possible it is necessary to awake in the society the need of increasing their technical knowledge, because this need is not common enough nowadays. In order to know how to awake and maintain such need it is necessary to do adequate research. The research should include the issue of education effectiveness, so that the results can be used in the process of improvement of education quality in regard to technical skills and knowledge and adjustment of created technical knowledge to the dynamically changing needs of labor market. If Poland is to be innovative and competitive in a few years time it is necessary today to do organic work, work at the basis, which will result in systematic solution regarding discussed in this article monitoring of education effectiveness and forecasting the adjustment of education system to labor market needs, particularly in regard to technical knowledge and skills.

Funkcjonowanie współczesnego laboratorium bez zautomatyzowanych analizatorów, nowoczesnych metod badawczych oraz wysokosprawnego sprzętu pomocniczego nie jest możliwe. Specjalistyczna aparatura pomiarowa nie tylko ułatwia wykonanie badania, ale przede wszystkim pozwala uzyskać wiarygodne wyniki w krótszym czasie. Laboratorium, które wdraża system zarządzania jakością zgodnie z Normą EN-PN ISO 15189, powinno spełniać zawarte w niej wymagania dotyczące systemu jakości i kompetencji technicznych. Jakość procesów związanych z uzyskiwaniem wyników badań wymaga walidacji. Aparatura pomiarowa i stosowane w niej metody badawcze oraz urządzenia pomocnicze również powinny podlegać walidacji.

The work of a contemporary laboratory is impossible without automated analysis systems, modern testing methods and highly developed auxiliary equipment. Specialist measuring apparatus not only makes research easy but permits obtaining reliable results from examinations on a relatively shorter timescale. A medical laboratory which introduces a quality management system in accordance with the PN-EN ISO 15189 Standard should comply with the requirements for quality systems and technical competence. The quality of the process connected with the acquired results of laboratory tests is also in need of validation. All measurement apparatus, testing methods and auxiliary equipment must also be validated.
