The purpose analysis of tactical support planning of division and brigade leads to distinguishing characteristic stages of technical team works of the Centre for Command Post Support of Brigade and Division including the technical situation evaluation of brigade/division troops, developing technical support variants of brigade/division troops. These stages enable drawing a general conclusion, presented to the head of G4, concerning the possibility of brigade/division troops’ technical support in a planned combat. Forming this conclusion is possible after taking advantage of procedures that can be best presented by actions’ algorithms of the technical team head. Contemporary conditions of technical support fighting troops (Poland’s presence in NATO, the necessity to provide troops with new equipment) create new research areas that include using (also recreating) technical materiel stores in the repair process of damaged equipment and differentiating the possibilities of fighting troops technical potential in order to present real capabilities of troops technical support task completion in contemporary and future combat.

Progressive, dynamic changes of the modern battlefield picture increase requirements towards defence effectiveness of brigade and division tactical forces. Therefore the level of difficulty to perform defence tasks grows while delays in equipping troops in modern armament and ordinance. The defending country has a possibility to use its territory natural defence values and prepare it to defence appropriately. It is an unavailable means to an aggressor enabling the multiplication of own troops’ defence capabilities and restricting or even paralysing the enemy’s attack abilities. In such a situation the challenges that brigade and division tactical forces face are met by territorial defence troops that should be located on the whole territory of the country. It results from the analysis of tasks that operational and territorial defence troops may perform that the effectiveness of their performance of brigade and division operational forces may increase due to a competent use of combat potential and appropriate co-ordination and synchronisation of actions with territorial defence troops. Using the potential of territorial defence forces must agree with the art of waging fight by territorial defence troops. The commander of operational forces has to introduce somehow his own forces into existing defence infrastructure in the framework of territorial defence trops’ are as of responsibility.

Contemporary search to find a place for logistic management bodies in division’s staff is connected, among others, with their role in decision making process. Commanding and managing the troops in combat requires cohesion in the staffs works, G-4 team including which conditions making decisions adequate to an operational - tactical situation. The decision making process initiates establishing the location of the troops’ combat potential. Technical potential is its important component. In the article the author focuses on sources of necessary information, ways how to gain and transform it in the time of establishing the location of division and brigade forces and technical assets.

The article presents the authors viewpoints on the organisation and conducting a logistic reconnaissance in a tactical unit. The following reconnaissance kinds have been discussed: materiel, technical, medical, and also reconnaissance carried out by commanders of logistic units and logistic equipment. The way to work out a plan of logistic reconnaissance has been presented. There has been discussed its organisation and conducting during: reconnaissance of roads and evacuation, reconnaissance of loading and unloading stations, reconnaissance of locating logistic subunits and units, reconnaissance of logistic resources of terrain infrastructure.
