Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu przeanalizowanie zjawiska budowania tożsamości miejsca z wykorzystaniem funkcji, które dotychczas leżały w strefie tabu – wywoływały lęk przed śmiercią, nieczystością, rozkładem. Należą do nich cmentarze, szpitale, kostnice, wysypiska śmieci, lecz również obiekty związane z produkcją żywności takie, jak miejskie rzeźnie i związane z nimi hodowle. Jak dotychczas sukcesja funkcji, która następowała wraz z rozwojem technicznym, powodowała, że były one lokowane coraz dalej od terenów śródmiejskich, a ich miejsce zastępowały te, uważane za lepiej spełniające warunek „miejskości”. Obecnie tendencja ta ulega odwróceniu. Przykład osiedla Global Abattoir obrazuje ogólny nurt, w którym następuje odejście od biologicznej sfery życia, w stronę próby budowania tożsamości bez maskowania historycznej roli miejsca. Analizowany przypadek ukazuje jednak szereg skomplikowanych relacji, które muszą zaistnieć, aby zrównoważyć element profanum, sięgający do podświadomych lęków człowieka.

The paper aims to analyze the phenomenon of building an identity of a place using functions that have so far been taboo – caused fear of death, impurity and decay. These include cemeteries, hospitals, morgues, landfills, but also food production facilities such as municipal slaughterhouses and livestock farms. So far, the succession of functions that followed technical development meant that they were located more and more away from downtown areas, and their place replaced those considered to better meet the condition of „urbanity”. This trend is currently being reversed. The example of the Global Abattoir housing estate illustrates the general trend in which there is a departure from the biological sphere of life towards an attempt to build identity without masking the historical role of the place. The analyzed case, however, shows a series of complicated relationships that must occur in order to balance the profane element, reaching out to the subconscious fears of a human being.

Across the globe, many spheres of our lives whether it is related to the day to day functioning at the personal level or administration of various governments are transformed with the advent of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). In the present century, indeed, the Information and Communication Technology's convergence has to also accelerate the evolution of diverse services in the contour of e-Initiatives or to be particular e-Governance.Over almost three decades back with the modest commencement of e-Initiatives in various parts of the world, these engineering sciences have inarguably transformed some of the most rudimentary issues that at times trammeled communication and global outreach. In the state of Uttarakhand, many e-Initiatives have been launched to bring development to the state. Indeed, many efforts were taken to bring or to deploy e- Initiatives in the state, but there is a need to do a lot of work in terms of implementation and practical realization of the programs so that better services to the citizens of the state could be delivered.This study would focus on a phased approach towards analyzing and realizing the impacts of e-initiatives taken by the state of Uttarakhand in the Education sector. This work would try to put forward an attempt to ascertain and explain the issues concerning e-initiatives taken in the sector of school education and would present a general review of the present model with a case study of city Roorkee. The computer literacy aspect among the school going children has also been taken up by analyzing their computer operating skills and knowledge. The study would reflect recommendations on the effective implementation of e-Initiatives in the sector of school education in the state so that a better education facility could be availed by the children.

An Analytical Study for the Role of Fuzzy Logic in Improving Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithms

The research applications of fuzzy logic have always been multidisciplinary in nature due to its ability in handling vagueness and imprecision. This paper presents an analytical study in the role of fuzzy logic in the area of metaheuristics using Web of Science (WoS) as the data source. In this case, 178 research papers are extracted from it in the time span of 1989-2016. This paper analyzes various aspects of a research publication in a scientometric manner. The top cited research papers, country wise contribution, topmost organizations, top research areas, top source titles, control terms and WoS categories are analyzed. Also, the top 3 fuzzy evolutionary algorithms are extracted and their top research papers are mentioned along with their topmost research domain. Since neuro fuzzy logic poses feasible options for solving numerous research problems, hence a section is also included by the authors to present an analytical study regarding research in it. Overall, this study helps in evaluating the recent research patterns in the field of fuzzy metaheuristics along with envisioning the future trends for the same. While on one hand this helps in providing a new path to the researchers who are beginners in this field as they can start exploring it through the analysis mentioned here, on the other hand it provides an insight to professional researchers too who can dig a little deeper in this field using knowledge from this study.

W pracy rozpatrujemy permutacyjny problem przepływowy będący jednym z najtrudniejszych problemów kombinatorycznych. Dla zamodelowa-nia specyficznych własności pojawiających się w praktycznych problemach harmonogramowania przedsięwzięć budowlanych zastosowaliśmy czasy transportu o ujemnej wartości. Przedstawiamy algorytm jego rozwiązywania oparty na metodzie tabu search.Wykonano wiele obliczeń dla trudnych przykładów o dużych rozmiarach zamieszczonych w pracy Taillard [14]. Otrzymane wyniki obliczeniowe porównano z powszechnie obecnie stosowanym algorytmem konstrukcyjnym NEH ([13]), wynikami dokładnego algorytmu B&B oraz najlepszymi znanymi w literaturze rozwiązaniami.

In this paper we consider a permutational flow shop problem which is one of the difficult combinatorial problems. A negative times of transports have been using to model a specific constraints of the problem. We propose a tabu search approach. Tests were done for a Taillard [14] benchmarks. Obtained results were compared to constructive algorithm NEH ([13]), exact B&B algorithm and the best known results from literature.
