Praca dotyczy analizy przeprowadzonych badań eksperymentalnych procesu wygładzania powierzchni karoserii (części dachowej) poprzez dynamiczne nagniatanie rozproszone. W celu wyznaczenia równań regresji parametrów nagniatanej powierzchni opracowano dwupoziomowy plan eksperymentu. Przykładowe wyniki przedstawiono w artykule.

Paper presents experimental researches of body element of a car planishing ("roof"element) by shot peening process. The main goal of this article was to determinate regression equations of geometrical parameters of surface. Two-level experiment plan was elaborated. Example results in this article was presented also.

Content available remote Employment of concentrated-hardsphere-suspension pad for V-bending of thin strip

Purpose: Authors have suggested employment of dilatant fluid for metal forming tools, and report an application on v-bending of thin stainless steel strips in this paper. Design/methodology/approach: An alumina concentrated hard-sphere suspension is employed as dilatant fluid for forming. The authors evaluate the suspension with backward extrusion test. Then, the authors try to bend SUS304 stainless strip with 0.25 mm thickness and 30 mm width on the pad of the suspension with a v-bend punch. Findings: Behaviour of the suspension is revealed in backward extrusion test. Migration of water takes important role in it. In v-bending test, including acute angle bending, the authors bend the strip with only the v-bend punch and the alumina concentrated hard-sphere suspension pad successfully. It is thought that forming load is less than with general polyurethane tools. Research limitations/implications: Spring-back in partial bending, which is similar to the suggested process, is larger than in bottoming and coining with dies and bending with polyurethane tools. Therefore, the authors are going to evaluate the spring-back in the suggested process in further study. Practical implications: Polyurethane pad is used in bending process generally because of advantageous points in easy-design, and safe from scratch. However it has disadvantageous points in its limited life and necessity of large forming load. The alumina concentrated hard-sphere suspension can be employed for such the pad with unlimited life. In addition, such the dilatant fluid can be applied on other metal forming process as easy tool. Originality/value: Employing dilatant fluid for forming tools is new idea. Authors try v-bending with an alumina concentrated hard-sphere suspension.

Purpose: The automotive industry, in countries such as Brazil, China and India, in contrast to the North American and European markets, is in full expansion. Due to the huge competition in the globalized automotive market, such countries face a challenge to continue this expansion. Especially important in order to win this battle, will be their capacities to release new products in the market faster than their competitors and with more cost efficiency, making an appropriate use of tools such as total quality management, concurrent engineering and increasing the use of innovative concepts in production and logistics [1,2]. Design/methodology/approach: According with the expose above, the aim of this work was to develop DFMA tools for an industrial real case. There several tools that could be included in the Design for Excellence (DFX) methodologies. Initially, two of those can be outstand here: Design For Manufacturing (DFM) and Design For Asse. Findings: In terms of the press shop facilities of the plant the main results, were: layout optimization, press line automation feasibility, reduced setup and increased productivity, improved racks logistic, reduced overhead, reduced stamped part scraps and resources with mechanical presses selling. In terms of the planning activities, the main results were: reduce time to market, reduce press shop machinery and die stamping investments and reduce indirect cost. Practical implications: The main proposal of concurrent engineering is to shorten a product development time through a simultaneous time implementation of the several stages of the engineering activity in parallel and under a concurrent mode offering all information required by all elements of the product life cycle. Originality/value: This paper reviews fundamental concepts in concurrent engineering and DFX aiming to discuss criteria of assembly and manufacturability regarding the development of automotive panels and doors. A more detailed presentation of the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) results obtained during the practical industrial case of auto body panel development are not presented here due to data confidentiality and page limitation.

W artykule przedstawiono metody badań tłoczności, pozwalające ocenić podatność do przetwórstwa karoseryjnych blach stalowych. Omówiono podstawowe badania mechaniczne oraz symulujące próby technologiczne. Na podstawie granicznych krzywych tłoczenia dokonano porównawczej oceny tłoczności blach stalowych stosowanych w przemyśle samochodowym, takich jak: blachy ze stali niskowęglowych do obróbki plastycznej na zimno w tym stale IF, stali o podwyższonej wytrzymałości do obróbki plastycznej na zimno (mikrostopowe i stopowe) w tym stale typu P, BH oraz stale o specjalnych własnościach izotropowych, dodatkami Nb/Ti. Przedstawiono wyniki badań własnych w zakresie badań blach pokrywanych powłokami metalicznymi, głownie cynkiem oraz problemy związane z oceną tłoczności nowoczesnych materiałów stosowanych do tłoczenia elementów karoserii samochodowych, jakimi są blachy typu "tailored blanks". Omówiono zagadnienia oceny właściwości blach dla potrzeb symulacji procesu tłoczenia.

Methods of examining drawability which allow to evaluate flexibility of steel sheets for body making processing have been presented in the article. Basic mechanical examinations and technological simulation tests have been discussed. Comparative analysis of drawability of steel sheets used in car industry has been made on the basis of drawing boundary curves. Writer's own examination results of sheets with metallic coating, mainly zinc one, as well as problems connected with evaluation of drawability of new materials - so called "tailored blanks"- used for drawing car body elements have been presented in the paper. Evaluation of steel properties used for simulation of drawing process has also been discussed.

In this paper the sensitivity based optimization problem is considered. The shape of the first of two contacting bodies is optimized on the basis of sensitivities calculated for the second body i.e. workpiece. The finite element simulation of sheet metal forming process and direct differentiation method of sensitivity analysis is used. Some energy measure of deforming sheet metal is chosen as a cost functional. Its gradients with respect to the tool (punch) shape parameters are evaluated. Tool shape optimization based on `exact' sensitivity results is performed. Calculated sensitivities with respect to the tool shape parameters are the input for the optimization algorithm. The cost functional is minimized, yielding the optimal shape of the tool. The theory is illustrated by numerical example. Shape optimization of the compressor cover produced in one of sheet stamping factories is performed.

W artykule omówiono wpływ tarcia na wielkość odkształceń w procesach tłoczenia blach. Przedstawiono wyniki badań współczynnika tarcia dla wybranych smarów oraz wyniki przeprowadzonej symulacji komputerowej dotyczącej wpływu smarowania i geometrii narzędzi na wartość pocieniania ścianek wytłoczki.

In the paper effect of friction on deformation in sheet metal forming processes has been discussed. Test results of friction coefficient of some lubricants have been presented. The influence of lubricant and tool geometry on the value of cup thinning was analysed using computer simulation.
