Insulators with semiconducting glaze (SCG) have long been known for their superior contamination performance. The pollution flashover voltage of SCG insulators in two times higher than standard porcelain insulators or even 50% higher than silicon composite insulators. Early glazes for this type, however, were not stable and successful use od semiconductive glazed insulators was delayed many years until tin-antimony oxide glazes were developed. Service experience of twenty-five years is now available for line, station and bushing insulators with this type of glaze. The paper desribes the electrical properties of cap and pin insulators with SCG thermal stability conditions and corrosion phenomenon.

Przedstawiono wyniki pracy, w której zbadano wytrzymałość łańcuchów izolatorów kołpakowych, składających się w połowie z izolatorów stabilizowanych i w połowie z izolatorów szklanych. W takich łańcuchach nie ma strat energii, są więc bardziej ekonomiczne niż łańcuchy zawierające tylko izolatory stabilizowane.

There are presented test results of chains of the pin and cap insulators containing in a half - stabilised insulators and in other half - glass insulators. In such chains there is no losses of energy, so they are more efficient than chains containing stabilised insulators only.
