Purpose: The aim of the research was to present the impact of the use of selected Lean Manufacturing tools (5S and Poka Yoke) on the efficiency of the production process and the number of non-conforming products generated during the manufacturing process. The research was carried out on the basis of data from a production plant in the automotive industry. Design/methodology/approach: The article presents a statistical analysis of the impact of the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools on the production process - a case study. Findings: The obtained results allowed to present the scale of changes coming in the manufacturing process, confirming at the same time the positive effect of the implementation of Lean Manufacturing tools on the efficiency of the manufacturing process and the quality of manufactured products. As a result of the implementation of the 5S and Poka Yoke tools, an increase in efficiency was found in all production operations. Social implications: The analysis carried out can increase awareness of the importance of the impact of Lean Manufacturing on the production process. Originality/value: In the article, an original statistical analysis was carried out, indicating an increase in the efficiency of the production process due to the implementation of selected Lean Manufacturing tools.

The role of visual management in the organization of safe work in production companies Workers play a superior role in the production process because they are responsible for its proper functioning (e.g. process efficiency, quality, technical condition of usage machines), and are also responsible for safety at work. The issue of work safety should be a crucial factor in the process of introducing changes in the company. The introduced changes should take into account safe working conditions and reduce the number of potential accidents, therefore employers should implement solutions aimed at improving work safety. One of the tools that can affect work safety is visual management (VM). The use of various forms of VM enables immediate response to emerging problems, which may translate into an increase in employees' awareness of health and safety issues. The article presents the possibilities of using of visual management tools in manufacturing companies in terms of improving work safety. The proposed solutions can be used by enterprises that register accidents at work and take actions to increase employees' awareness of occupational safety and health (OSH).

Ensuring work safety in manufacturing enterprises is one of the employer's basic obligations under legal provisions. Actions taken in this area translate into a reduction in the number of registered accidents at work, occupational diseases or potentially accidental events. Limiting these types of events is possible by implementing preventive solutions to reduce the risk ,employers 'and employees' cooperation in the field of occupational health and safety. These activities may take the form of technical solutions, but above all organizational. Enterprises use various management concepts that have an impact on improving work safety. One of the solutions eliminating or reducing hazards occurring at workplaces is the TWI (Training Within Industry) program. The TWI program is the foundation of a management culture based on continuous improvement and a continuous learning process. It is considered the starting point to implement the Lean Manufacturing concept. One of the TWI modules is aimed to creating a safe workplace, i.e. TWI-Job Safety (TWI-JS). The publication presents the results of the analysis of operations performed at a selected workstation in the production enterprise in the aspect of identifying and eliminating or limiting possible direct and indirect causes of hazards that may lead to accidents at work. For this purpose, a four-step TWI-JS method was used.

Today's market determinants and most importantly, very dynamically changing customer requirements significantly shortened the product life cycle. This situation reflects in companies by common extension of the assortment offered and personalised serial production. The result of a flexible approach to market changes is the implementation of LEAN concept, which, both in terms of management and production aims to develop efficiency within an organisation, which will then enable quick and dynamic response to changes in the environment. The popularity of LEAN concept (in management and production) among managers comes from its universality and a wide range of instruments used to maximise the use of existing potential. The main assumptions of LEAN concept are aimed at the maximum use of an organisation's resources, defining the activities necessary to execute an order and identifying the areas generating losses and then minimising them and eventually eliminating. LEAN concept is based on flagship-main tools for identification and modernisation of processes, the difficulty in using them results from the need to recognise and select the most effective ones that meet the expectations of a given organisation. The article presents issues related to the first stage of implementing LEAN concept in a company's structures, i.e. identification of opportunities and selection of appropriate tools.

Artykuł przedstawia koncepcję wykorzystania wybranych metod lean production. Techniki i metody wchodzące w skład lean manufacturing pozwalają na systematyczną identyfikację i eliminację marnotrawstwa poprzez ciągłe doskonalenie procesów logistycznych w przedsiębiorstwach produkcyjnych. Zmniejszenie kosztów i poprawa jakości produktu oraz dostosowanie produktu do wymagań klienta ma kluczowe znaczenie w uzyskaniu przewagi konkurencyjnej. Wiąże się to często ze zmianą podejścia zarządu do kwestii utrzymania maszyn, zwłaszcza zwiększenia ich bezawaryjności oraz uzyskania większej elastyczności produkcji. Cele te można uzyskać poprzez wykorzystanie metod z obszaru lean production.

The paper presents a concept of using selected lean production methods. The lean manufacturing methods and techniques allow a systematic identification and elimination of waste by continuous improvement of logistics processes in manufacturing companies. Reduction of costs and improvement of product quality has a key importance in gaining competitive advantage. This is often related to maintenance of machines, particularly increasing their reliability and obtaining better production flexibility. Those objectives can be achieved by using lean production methods.

Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie: czy twórczość operatorów maszyn produkcyjnych może przekładać się na ograniczanie kosztów produkcji w odniesieniu do wyrobu złożonego? Przystępując do badań przyjęto koncepcyjny wzorzec tezy, a mianowicie: twórczość operatorów maszyn produkcyjnych implikowana jest możliwościami uzyskania przez nich dodatkowej premii, będącej przejawem zaimplementowania zgłoszonej idei wpływającej bezpośrednio na wyższą jakość procesu technologicznego.

The main aim of the paper is an attempt to answer the question: Can work of the production machine operators contribute to reducing the production cost in relation to a complex product? By carrying out the research, a conceptual thesis model was adopted, namely: The work of production machine operators is implied by the possibilities of obtaining an additional bonus by them, which is a manifestation of implementation of the reported idea that directly affects higher quality of the technological process.

Research thesis: Lean Management is a conception which leads to economical organization management system. It is universal conception, developed by decades. The method which allowed to prove the proposed research thesis was the analysis of domestic and foreign Lean Management literature.
