Drzewa stanowią integralną części dróg – nasadzenia przydrożne zostały stworzone przez drogowców. Obecność drzew na terenach zurbanizowanych sprawia jednak wiele problemów wynikających z braku wiedzy w zakresie ich wymagań rozwojowych oraz możliwości rozwiązywania konfliktów pomiędzy roślinnością a infrastrukturą. Problemy pojawiają się najczęściej w kontekście budowy, przebudowy lub remontu układu komunikacyjnego. Działania takie jak zmiany układu dróg, przebudowa, modernizacja, poszerzenie pasa drogowego kosztem pasa zieleni, redukowanie systemu korzeniowego na potrzeby budowy komunikacji odbywają się kosztem drzewostanu. Problem braku właściwych warunków siedliskowych dla rozwoju drzew dotyczy zarówno drzew nowo sadzonych, jak również drzew już istniejących. W artykule opisane zostały wymagania rozwojowe korzeni drzew oraz w tym kontekście zastosowanie podłoży strukturalnych, w celu godzenia „interesów” dróg i wymagań rozwojowych drzew oraz poprawy rezyliencji miasta. Ponadto omówiono zarówno wymagania techniczne układania wybranych instalacji technicznych, jak również w zakresie specyfikacji technicznej podłoży strukturalnych.

Trees are an integral part of the roads - roadside plantings were created by the road builders. The presence of trees in urban areas causes many problems resulting from the lack of knowledge in terms of their growth requirements and the ability to resolve conflicts between vegetation and infrastructure. Problems arise most often in the context of the construction, reconstruction or renovation of the communication system. Activities such as changes in the system of roads, reconstruction, modernization, widening the roadway at the expense of the green ways, reducing the root system for the construction take place at the expense of trees. The problem of not proper habitat conditions for the growth of trees affects both newly planted trees as well as existing ones. The article describes the growth requirements of the tree roots, and in this context the use of structural soil in order to reconcile the interests of roads, the development requirements of trees and to improve sustainable development of the cities. Moreover, both the technical requirements of the selected technical installations as well as technical specification of structural soil were described.
