The paper concerns a free vibration problem of a system of non-uniform beams coupled by non-homogeneous elastic layers. To solve the boundary problem, the Green's function method was applied. An example of the Green's function corresponding to the differential operator with variable coefficients is presented. The frequency equation is obtained by using a quadrature rule of a Newton-Cotes type.
