This paper is concerned with the problem of designing a robust modified repetitive-control system with a dynamic output feedback controller for a class of strictly proper plants. Employing the continuous lifting technique, a continuous-discrete two-dimensional (2D) model is built that accurately describes the features of repetitive control. The 2D control input contains the direct sum of the effects of control and learning, which allows us to adjust control and learning preferentially. The singular-value decomposition of the output matrix and Lyapunov stability theory are used to derive an asymptotic stability condition based on a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI). Two tuning parameters in the LMI manipulate the preferential adjustment of control and learning. A numerical example illustrates the tuning procedure and demonstrates the effectiveness of the method.

In the paper, a novel synthesis technique of Roesser model for separable denominator systems is presented. It is based on the full rank decomposition of a numerator coefficient matrix. The method is illustrated by an exemplary design of two-dimensional Gaussian filter.

Realization problem for positive single-input single-output systems with delays in state vector and inputs described by the 2D models is addressed. Sufficient condition for the existence of a positive realization are established and a procedure for finding a positive realization for a given proper transfer function is proposed. The procedure is illustrated by a numerical example.

W pracy podano metodę wyznaczania dodatniej realizacji układów dwuwymiarowych (2D) o jednym wejściu i jednym wyjściu z opóźnieniami w wektorze stanu i wymuszeniu. Podano warunki wystarczające na istnienie realizacji dodatnich oraz procedurę wyznaczania realizacji dodatnich dla danej właściwej transmitancji operatorowej. Procedurę zilustrowano przykładem numerycznym.

In this paper, a unified approach is presented for adaptive Least Squares Two-Dimensional system identification and linear filtering. First, a unified deterministic Least Squares criterion is introduced, and subsequently utilized for the derivation of a general algorithmic framework for the adaptive Two-Dimensional system identification and filtering. Overdetermined, as well as underdetermined Least Squares Two-Dimensional adaptive algorithms are derived, from the proposed general adaptive scheme. In this way, known Two-Dimensional adaptive algorithms are interpreted as special cases of a general algorithmic form. Moreover, new adaptive algorithms are derived, following the proposed methodology.

A circuit realization, for generalized Kelly - Lochbaum discrete two - dimensional (2-D) filters, with minimum number of delay elements is proposed. Using the proposed circuit implementation the corresponding state space realization is derived from its block diagram representation. The dimension of the 2-D state space vector is minimal and the corresponding 2-D transfer function is characterized by the all-pass property. In this paper two new two-dimensional (2-D) continued fraction expansions, having quadratic structure, are presented. Using their circuit realizations, which in fact are characterized by the minimum number of delay elements, minimal state space representations are derived. The matrices A, b, c' of the 2-D state space model are presented in generalized closed form. Two examples are given to illustrate the new realizations.
