Przedstawiono zasady realizacji wielodostępu przestrzennego SDMA (Space Division Multiple Access) w systemie WCDMA, przy użyciu techniki anten inteligentnych. Przeanalizowano zagadnienie pojemności systemu telekomunikacji komórkowej stosującego tę technikę. Wskazano na przydatność wielodostępu SDMA w przyszłym systemie UMTS.

The subject of this paper is the application of the Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) in WCDMA telecommunication system, by use the smart antenna technique. The capacity problem of the system has been discussed. The usefulness of the SDMA technique in the future global third generation telecommunication system UMTS has been summarized.

Przedstawiono podstawowe zasady działania anten inteligentnych zastosowanych w systemach telefonii komórkowej. Wyjaśniono znaczenie stosowania techniki anten inteligentnych dla rozwoju i udoskonalenia systemów komórkowych. Omówiono trzy fazy wprowadzania tej techniki: powiększenie zasięgu stacji bazowej, filtrację przestrzenną w celu redukcji zakłóceń współkanałowych oraz zastosowanie wielodostępu przestrzennego (SDMA) jako uzupełnienie innych metod wielodostępu. Opisano znane z literatury wyniki badań symulacyjnych wzrostu pojemności systemów komórkowych uzyskanych dzięki zstosowaniu techniki anten inteligentnych.

The paper presents the application of smart antennas in cellular systems. Themeaning of smart antennas for further development of cellular systems has been explained. Three phases of introduction of this technique have been presented: increasing of the base station range, space filtering for interference reduction (SFIR) and space division multiple access (SDMA) as the enrichment of other multiple access techniques. The main simulation results known from literature have been quoted. They estimate the increase of the system capacity obtained due the to the application of the smart antennas technique.
