The evaluation and selection of suppliers and the inspection of quality of deliveries in agricultural product & food processing enterprises is of key importance for ensuring the health safety of produced food within the meaning of the Law on health conditions of food and catering of 11 May 2001 and for compliance with quality requirements. This work deals with the functioning of the system of inspection and evaluation of deliveries and suppliers in Polskie Zakłady Zbożowe Kraków SA, in which the Quality Management System compliant with ISO 9001 and the HACCP system have been implemented since 2001. The selection of business partners in the enterprise is based on the modified point-based method of evaluation of suppliers according to the elaborated criteria where the quality of delivery, the price of raw materials, the history of cooperation, dates of deliveries and rules of payment are taken into account. The business partner receives a specified number of points for the fulfillment of each criterion, and their sum is decisive for the assignment of the supplier to a specific category, according to which the raw material purchase process is carried out. The inspection of deliveries was carried out in accordance with requirements of the HACCP system for the purpose of measuring and detecting pollutants, pest and physical & chemical parameters endangering the health safety of food. The results of tests performed in 2009 show that, out of 4,500 inspected deliveries, 157 were not accepted due to the presence of cereal pest and 171 were not accepted due to inadequate physical & chemical properties of cereals. No exceeding of chemical pollution and pest disease limit values was found in the inspected deliveries.
