The effect of controlied run-off and groundwater lowering in spring on forming soil moisture and soil drought occurrence in the valley meadow site is evaluated in the paper. Using the 30- years historical meteorological data computer simulation was perfonned and statistical characteristics of droughts were determined. Positive effect of controlled run-off in spring by the minimum drainage on the course of soil moisture in the vegetation period has been shown. The results of cmputer simulation show that controlling groundwater table depth in the meadow site with organic soils in a river valley with the method of controlled run-off reduces frequency and duration of soil drought as well as delays the term of drought apperance.
