Artykuł przedstawia propozycję wyznaczania podstawowych parametrów strumieni (relacji) ruchu w sieci drogowej z wykorzystaniem popularnych technologii telekomunikacyjnych: GSM i GPS (ang. Global System for Mobile Communications i Global Positioning System). Problematyka obliczania przepustowości strumieni ruchu (relacji) oraz wybranych elementów infrastruktury liniowej i punktowej występuje w inżynierii ruchu drogowego w wielu różnych aspektach. W zależności od lokalizacji strumienia ruchu w przekroju sieci drogowej można wyróżnić różne postępowania metodyczne w aspekcie obliczania ich przepustowości.

The article presents the proposition of capacity estimation of traffic streams in road network with telecommunicational technologies usage. The question of the capacity estimation of traffic streams and selected linear and punctual elements of infrastructure has many different aspects in road traffic engineering. The methodology of traffic capacity estimation depends on the location of a traffic stream. The issue of capacity measure was especially highlighted in the article. The conception of the capacity estimation of traffic streams with the utilization the GSM and aGPS technology was proposed. In this case the capacity measure was described by persons per time (not vehicles per time). Taking into account the guidelines provided in the White Papers (the latest edition – 2011), it becomes necessary – in particular in the urbanised areas – to identify not only an actual modal split of the traffic but also of the real transportation-related needs of the travelling persons. It means the proposed measure of capacity is required.
